1 month back I started having severe body ache and high fever. I went to Doctor Who gave me pain killer and anti allergic and after 3 days, I was feeling good. But, after 15 days, again the same body ache and fever. I visited the Doctor Who told me that I was having viral. I was given same medicines but my family suggested to get the typhoid and blood test. I got myself checked and the report showed that my platelet count was 108000. It has been a week and I am taking juices and salads and medicine to get the number increased. Though, Now there is no body ache and my energy level is also good. How long I have to keep taking juices and following such diet.

Hello. Your symptoms suggested the dengue fever, which is a self limiting disease and get cured by taking plenty of fluids, NSAIDS and rest. In your case, you had 2 episodes of viral fever, one of could be dengue fever due to which you had all your associated symptoms and also the decreased platelet count. Normally platelet count normalises within a week or so after the dengue fever subsided. Along with the pain in joints and weakness, it takes around 10-15 days to completely recover from this diseases, provided you are taking proper diet and rest.

You need to improve the tone of the muscles in a rhythmical manner. If you do that with proper diet restriction nothing will happen to you. Body pain is there after gym activity due to tiredness and you need to consume good protein and iron diet in your body which will help you to break the fatigue and body pain. You have to reduce the weight by walking minimum 3-4 kms per day. Slowly reduce the weight and slowly avoid adding salt in the diet which will help you to prevent water retention in the body. Excess salt in general leads to water in the body which might be the reason for you legs to pain as the leg will automatically become oedematous.

If this has been happening for a long time then it needs to be investigated. You can do some tests for that. Do keep moving the joints slowly and stretch the muscles. You can also take Homeopathy which is safe and gentle and can be taken after breaking your fast. You can call me or contact online for a private consultation.

Knee Pain: What Type Of Treatment Should You Go For?

Knee Pain: What Type Of Treatment Should You Go For?

The knee is the largest joint in the human body and is a complex structure formed of bone, muscle and cartilage. Development of pain in the knees can be caused by numerous factors such as aging, injuries, diseases, dietary deficiencies, etc. Arthritis is the most common cause of knee pain and usually affects the elderly and aged. It occurs due to an inflammation of the joint and causes pain, swelling, redness and inflexibility of the knees.

What are the factors that determine treatment method?

Diagnosis for knee pain varies from patient to patient as each case is different and must be approached differently. Some of the factors that determine the treatment method are as follows:

  1. Cause of the problem
  2. Nature and intensity of pain
  3. Age of the patient
  4. Medical history of the patient
  5. Diet and lifestyle of the patient

There are a number of different types of arthritis which can affect the knees in different ways and, consequently, require different types of treatment methods.

What are the various treatment methods for knee pain?

  1. Conventional Remedies - These are used in case of conditions that are not too severe or chronic. It includes keeping on bed rest, using an ice pack, taking a painkiller and anti-inflammatory medicines, wearing knee braces, etc.
  2. Physical Therapy - There are many stretching and strengthening exercise routines that help alleviate knee pain and treat the condition. Recovery is achieved by making the muscles around the knees stronger and increasing stability and flexibility.
  3. Injections to the Knees - A number of anti-inflammatory substances and supplements, as well as lubricants, can be injected into the knee joint which helps reduce pain and makes the joint more supple.
  4. Platelet Rich Plasma Injection - This involves drawing platelets from the patient's blood and injecting it into the knee joint for repairing damage caused to ligaments, tendons or cartilage.
  5. Surgery - Surgical procedures for treating knee pain include partial or complete knee replacements.
