I am 58 year old lady. I am suffering from severe pain in my heels for past one month. When I get up in the morning it is difficult to walk. I am also a patient of hypothyroidism and take eltroxine 100mg in the morning. Ialso take sheical 500 and neurobion forte. Please advise how to get rid of the pain in my heels. Should I take thuja 1000 ?

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 1 week contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

How to find pelvic muscles to perform kegel exercise? Is there any side effect of doing kegel?
Kegel exercises primarily aid men with urinary incontinence. Besides preventing embarrassing urine leakage, they also decrease the urge to void. Secondly, they have been shown to help male sexual health by allowing some men's erections to last longer when affected by sexual dysfunction and premature ejaculation. These benefits all equate to a better quality of life. These exercises are often recommended to patients with weakened pelvic floor muscles such as patients with diabetes, patients having had a prostate surgery in the past such as a radical prostatectomy, or obese patients. It should also be mentioned that these exercises have not been scientifically proven to increase penis size and are thus not recommended solely for this purpose. Kegel exercises are harmless if performed correctly. Chest and abdominal pain have been reported in some, but these occurrences are the result of inappropriately performed exercises. •How to do kegel ex’s •Find the right muscles. To identify your pelvic floor muscles, stop urination in midstream or tighten the muscles that keep you from passing gas. These maneuvers use your pelvic floor muscles. Once you've identified your pelvic floor muscles, you can do the exercises in any position, although you might find it easiest to do them lying down at first. •Perfect your technique. Tighten your pelvic floor muscles, hold the contraction for three seconds, and then relax for three seconds. Try it a few times in a row. When your muscles get stronger, try doing Kegel exercises while sitting, standing or walking. •Maintain your focus. For best results, focus on tightening only your pelvic floor muscles. Be careful not to flex the muscles in your abdomen, thighs or buttocks. Avoid holding your breath. Instead, breathe freely during the exercises. •Repeat 3 times a day. Aim for at least three sets of 10 repetitions a day. Don't make a habit of using Kegel exercises to start and stop your urine stream. Some doctors think this could cause a bladder infection. Now that you have located your pelvic floor muscles, you can exercise them even when you do not have to urinate (pee) by following these simple steps: 1.Tighten and hold your pelvic floor muscles for five seconds (count 1 one thousand, 2 one thousand, 3 one thousand, 4 one thousand, 5 one thousand). 2.Relax your pelvic muscles. You have just done one Kegel exercise. You should plan to do 10 to 20 Kegel exercises three to four times each day. Another way to tighten your pelvic floor muscles is to: 1.Squeeze the muscles in your anus (like you are holding a bowel movement). 2.Relax your pelvic floor muscles after each attempt. 3.Repeat this exercise 10 to 20 times. When you do your Kegel exercises, remember•Do not hold your breath. •Do not push down. Squeeze your muscles together tightly and imagine that you are trying to lift this muscle up. •Do not tighten the muscles in your stomach, buttocks, or thighs. •Relax your pelvic floor muscles between each squeeze.

Bloating: The Causes & Solutions

Bloating isn't a medical condition. It doesn't necessarily mean that a person has eaten too much. It can be a case of eating wrong food which has not been digested by the body. Bloating occurs when air and water get trapped inside the stomach or intestine. As a result, the stomach gets swollen well past its normal level. (Learn more about stomach problem)

Culprits of bloating:Bloating can result from a number of cases. Fatty or junk foods are one of the biggest culprits of bloating. It hinders the digestion process and doesn't let the stomach empty on time. Carbohydrates too can cause bloating. Even carbonated drinks can play spoilsport. It creates bubbles in the stomach leading to indigestion and bloating. Some food items related to gas include cauliflower, lettuce, hard candy, beans, Brussels sprouts, broccoli etc. Apart from this, consumption of excessive junk food and soft drinks can lead to bloating.

Steps to avoid bloating: The best way to avoid bloating is to refrain from bloat causing foods as mentioned earlier. If you wear dentures (know more about dentures), it should be ensured that it fits properly. There are instances when excess air gets inside the stomach due to an improper fixture of denture leading to bloating. Eating or drinking slowly is another good way of staying away from bloating. When you eat slowly, there are fewer chances of extra air getting inside the stomach. In the case of beverage consumption, avoiding the straw is a good idea. This way the unwanted air cannot make their way inside the tummy and play foul.

Taking a small walk after every meal is another good way of staying away from bloating. This way the gas inside the tummy cannot rise above the surface. The practice of calming technique such as yoga, deep breathing and meditation also goes a long way in giving relief from bloating.

Some home remedies to get rid of bloating include:

  • A cup of ginger, lemon and honey in a cup of hot water once everyday
  • 1 cup of herbal peppermint tea freshly prepared in boiled water
  • In the case of regular stomach bloating, intake of one caraway seed on a daily basis fetches immediate results
  • Consumption of a cup of baked pumpkin twice a week
  • Consumption of warm lemon water before you start your day is another good way of keeping bloating at bay.

Bloating can also be a symptom of other intestinal related problems as well. If the general method of control and measured diet doesn't suffice, it is time to visit a doctor to find the underlying cause of your problem. Doctors perform a series of tests to understand the problem and prescribe the required medicine to control or cure the problem.

I am having very irregular and too hard stools and in less qty since 7 /10 days. Prior that I was having loose motions since 2 /3 days. My stool has became soo hard that I can not pass it. Mostbof the time I am not feeling any pressure. I drink water. I am a thyroid patient. And uric acid too. I consume pain killer named naprisin whenever I feel pain in by body. Pls suggest any medicine.

I believe you do not have motions with mucous or blood (a lab analysis of normal stool),/fever/ weight loss/anaemia/some lump in abdomen (may get an (USS abdomen). If above things are negative there is incresed likelihood of you suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. You may try oats in breakfast, daily a cup of raw diced fruits, cup of curd, daily walk of 3-4 kms, avoiding anxiety, have meals in time, take green leafy vegetables. Whole grain flour avoid foods with maida eg noodle, pasta, white bread. If it still persists consult your physcian suggest avoid self drugging yourself with naprosyn.

Mouth breathing can also lead to speech impediments, especially in children between the age group of 4-12 years. I have my son 7 years old he has speech issues and can belly make sentences. Kindly help.

Mouth breathing is a common symptom in children with adenoid hypertrophy, if child is having hearing problem probably he is developing otitis media with effusion than adenoidectomy is advisable.
