Any remedy for stammering? I am 24 years old. It is not by birth. I get stuck when I tend to speak in public.

Hello lybrate-user Try following:- Breathing and relaxing exercises Speaking about a topic of your choice at a distance and loudly in front of your friends or family but in public (park/ restaurant/ classroom) Initiating conversations in a large group with familiar people. There are more activities that will help your public fear. However the practice of relaxing your facial muscles and body before representing in front of public is very important. Kindly see a speech therapist for detailed step by step guidance. Thanks!

Hello Mr. lybrate-user If the hearing loss is sensorineural that means if the nerve responsible for hearing is damaged to even some extent then hearing aid is the best possible option. Not able to hear from a distance is one of the starting signs of hearing loss. Hearing aid will not only Help in understanding speech from distance but also when you are talking on phone in a noisy place or when you are in a group conversation. There are many other situations in which the hearing aid option will prove to be much more beneficial. The use of oil may not be helpful in this case. Thanks!

Hi, Now a days digital hearing aids are available that will help in setting the hearing aid according to the hearing loss even if it is slight. In most cases of hearing loss the only option left is hearing aid, it is strongly recommended if it crosses mild sensorineural hearing loss or is sloping in nature. Thanks!

Acupressure therapy beneficial in hearing loss? Is a premature baby, hearing loss recover, with acupressure.
Hello Actually there is not sufficient scientific research to show if acupressure/ acupuncture can recover hearing loss to any extent. In any case acupuncture alone is not enough! As I notice here, you are talking about a baby. In this case if the hearing loss was present by birth, I would suggest you to get a complete hearing evaluation and if the baby has more than moderately severe hearing loss, you should not delay in the treatment. Sooner the treatment better the results. The results for acupuncture are not reliable specially in case of hearing loss by birth. If you would like to discuss in detail you can message me personally. Thanks!

Hello lybrate-user You need to get a detailed hearing evaluation done to know what may be the cause of hearing loss. Asthma might not be the root cause. An Audiologist can help in concluding and explaining you the probable cause of it and the treatment too. Thanks!

Hello lybrate-user I would suggest you to get genetic tests done for confirmed results. The genes responsible for hearing loss if found to be present recessively in you and your girlfriend, could increase the probability of hearing loss in babies. Genetic testing is the best way to get assured information. Thanks!

Hello lybrate-user The use of a hearing aid is strongly suggested if the degree of hearing loss crosses the mild level or is sloping in nature. There are decent hearing aids available starting from 25000/- to 80,000/- and above (per ear). You need to get a hearing aid trial done for your father and then judge the comfort of your father. An Audiologist can help you in choosing the best suited hearing aid for your father. Thanks.

Hi lybrate-user If you have been noticing this in all hearing related activities. Kindly see an ENT, first you need to rule out wax or any infection. In any case get hearing evaluation done from a qualified Audiologist for detailed/baseline information and once the treatment is over (in case of infection) get the hearing test again to see the improvement in hearing thresholds. Thanks :)
