hi nargis, Lifestyle habits can go a long way to help reduce the number and severity of migraines. A consistent sleep pattern and regular exerciseand meals are important. Here are some lifestyle changes that may help: Sleep. Setting a consistent sleep schedule may help reduce migraines. Go to bed and get up about the same time every day, including weekends and holidays. Disruptions to your sleep schedule, getting too much or too little sleep, can trigger a headache. Exercise regularly. You may be tempted to avoid exercise, afraid it might trigger a migraine. And, although overexertion may trigger a headache in some people, research suggests regular, moderate aerobic exercise may reduce the severity, duration, and number of migraines in many people. Regular exercise also helps control stress, another migraine trigger. Eat regular meals. Regular meals are important to maintain level blood sugar. A drop in blood sugar can trigger a migraine. Also drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, which can trigger migraine. Limit stress. For many migraine sufferers, stress is a common trigger. Take time each day for a relaxation break. Find something that you enjoy that helps you relax. For example: • Listen to calming music • Take a short walk • Meditate • Do yoga Try complementary therapies. Along with your prescribed treatment, consider using complementary therapy to help prevent migraines. For example, you may be able to manage stress and prevent migraines through: • Acupuncture • Massage • Cognitive behavioral therapy tc.if problem still persists revert me back ill help you best.

It is a combination of escitalopram and clonazepam normally combinations are rarely given esp in western coutries to evaluate the adverse effect and action of each salt. Common side effects of escitalopram are constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; dry mouth; headache; increased sweating; light-headedness when you stand or sit up; loss of appetite; nausea; stomach upset; tiredness; trouble sleeping. And long term side effects of clonazepam are vertigo or dizziness. Heaviness or numbness of the extremities. Impaired cognition. Failure to form new memories. Confusion. Reduced judgment and slowed reaction time.* reduced sex drive. And drug dependence which is even seen in short term use.

Please suggest the tips for migraine headache Rarely I get migraine pain. Generally I use migranil tablet to control my pain Kindly suggest the food I have to take and any exercises. Etc.

LCPS, BAM&S
General Physician, Pune
Migraine is a mysterious disease and though a huge research is going on, we know very littele about causes, pathology and treatment. But one thing is certain, it is related to complex things happening in mind and related to stress, mostly. A holistic answer to your question is to prevent happening migraine by working on lifestyle and stress. Keep food simple, avoid oily, fried food. Eat 4-6 times aday, with little food every time. Take 9*10 hours of sleep every day. Sleep early. Listen to music before going to bed. Do yogasans everyday for 30-40 minutes, pranayam and meditation for another 30 minutes. Make life decisions simple, avoid challenging and complicated situations. Develope hobbies. For pain relieving, I won't suggest migranil. Take crocin instead. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables every day. Drink water 3 litres per day. And lastly see a good doctor.

I have a migraine pain over 3 years. I m taking some medicine as prescribed by doctor, but it not much helpful. What should I do?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, Self-care measures can help ease the pain of a migraine headache. Try muscle relaxation exercises. Relaxation techniques may include progressive muscle relaxation, meditation or yoga. Get enough sleep, but don't oversleep. Get an adequate amount of sleep each night. It's best to go to bed and wake up at regular times, as well. If possible, rest in a dark, quiet room when you feel a headache coming on. Place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the back of your neck and apply gentle pressure to painful areas on your scalp. Medication: Take Bakson's Mig Aid tablet/ 1 tablet 3 times a day.

Hi, Your body is doing what it was made to do. Wet dreams are nothing to feel guilty about, so don't beat yourself up over something that's a perfectly normal function of your body. Home remedies for nightfall: -Individuals suffering from the condition can also opt to drink a glass of fresh bottle gourd juice every day, preferably at night in order to prevent nightfall. -Grind some fenugreek leaves or seeds and extract the juice.Add some water to the juice (one cup to 2 tbsp.). Add a few drops of honey for taste as well. Drink the juice before bed time every day to curb nightfall effectively. -Drinking a glass of warm almond milk at night before going to bed can relax the mind and body, and literally lull you to sleep and is one of the best known home remedies for recurrent wet dreams. Management: -Sleep on your back. -Wear loose fitting clothes . -Avoid spicy foods and stimulants (coffee and other substances that contain caffeine, especially late at night). -It'll be much easier to control your sexual urges if you avoid pornography, sexual programming on television, and other media. Fill your time with enriching, fulfilling activities and avoid dwelling on thoughts of sex. -Try practicing yoga. -Develop a healthy relationship with sex. If you're sexually active, communicate with your partner to maintain a healthy and open sexual relationship that keeps you both fulfilled. In some cases, big changes or stressful periods reportedly produce more wet dreams than at other more relaxed periods of leisure. Make sure you get enough sleep and exercise, and take time off from your busy schedule to relax and do things that you enjoy. Pick up new hobbies to fill your free time with fun activities and relax when you get the chance to relax. Medication: Phosphoric Acid 30/ thrice daily for 4 weeks. For underweight: Gaining weight is a slow process which requires patience and dedication! It not only depends upon the amount of food you consume daily, but also about eating Sensibly, depends upon your genes, your body's proper metabolism, assimilation and absorption, the levels of stress/ tension in your life, and any underlying medical condition you have! The food what and how you eat, makes the difference! For increasing your weight, concentrate on the below points ( if you don’t have any medical condition) which helps in gaining weight in a right way without harming your body. - Consume more healthy fats. Foods containing healthy fats are full of nutrients and also high in calories, making them a great option for weight gain. Foods containing plant fats should be your first option - this includes items such as nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados and olive oil. Foods containing healthy animals fats include lean meats and full fat dairy products - although if you have high cholesterol, you should probably stick to low-fat options. -Eat more protein. Good sources of protein include lean meat, fish and poultry, in addition to eggs, whole grains, dairy products and legumes. -Drink more calories. Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full-cream milk throughout the day. -Have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. -Gain muscle mass. It's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Strength training includes working with weights and performing exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, crunches, chin-ups and leg curls. Just keep in mind that the more you exercise, the more calories you will need to consume to replace those you lost while working out. -Quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. -Stay healthy. The most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy - eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. -Take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. -Think Positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos., both thrice daily ½ an hour before meals for 3months. Revert.

Hi Doctor, I am suffering from insomnia. I am working as a scientist in one of the reputed company and staying alone far from my family. I can not sleep more than 3-4 h per day. I am taking diazepam/Clonazepam lowest dose on need basis. Initially it helped me and I can get sleep when I used to take it. Now, After taking sedatives also, I am not able to sleep. Because of that I am not able to do my day work efficiently. I have consulted one psychiatrist who gave me anti depressant (X). When I take it, I feel very calm. I got the 7 kg weight gain because of that and I stopped the treatment. After stopping the medicine, situation has been worsened more. I can not even express suddenly what happen to me which is completely uncontrollable. One small thought provokes 10 thoughts and 10 thoughts provoke 100 big thoughts. The tragedy of this is I can not share it to any one. I tried once, but no one is believing and taking me seriously. After some time I am able to realize that, it is not impacting any body other than me. Its my loss, I know that truth also, but I can not control my thoughts. It is my kind request to help or suggest me something as soon as possible to get out of it.

I am 47 years old get floaters since April 2016. I also have epilepsy problem. But I found floaters is not any way connected to epilepsy. I consulted the ophthalmologist in Chennai. They said there is no treatment for the floaters. My question is sometimes it is less and sometimes I feel it is more in a day. The ophthalmologist whom I consulted said that my position is not that laser treatment is needed. So will the floaters increase with age and till what stage I can ignore? Also will it affect my vision in due course of aging?

The floaters are due to vitreous degeneration inside the eye causing cells to float in the liquid media of the eye. When these cells pass through visual axis they can be seen as floaters. More clear when seeing towards the sky. Usually they tend to occur in small number, non pathological and increase with age, but are tolerable (doesn't hinder your vision). But if it occurs as a shower of floaters and affects your vision, then it can be pathological as in case of some retinal disease or trauma to the eye and requires immediate attention and management. As such there is no specific treatment for floaters, but washing the eyes frequently and use of some antioxidant and multivitamin (specific for the eye and retina) tablets have shown to reduce the floaters. To know some antioxidant and multivitamin tablet specific for the eyes ask me.
