Dealing with Migraine through Homeopathy

Dealing with Migraine through Homeopathy

A migraine is a headache that causes a distinct pulsating pain, usually in one side of the head. It is different from normal headaches in the sense that the pain is much more intense and it may be accompanied by nausea or vomiting as well. Some patients have also complained about light sensitivity while others have also complained about pain in all areas of the head.

Some of the factors that separate a migraine from a normal headache are as follows:

While a headache may last at best a day, migraines may last longer, sometimes even up to 3 days.

- Feelings of nausea or actual vomiting
- Sensitivity to light
- Extreme sensitivity to changes in sound

Causes Behind Migraines

Some of the common and known causes, which may trigger migraines in people are:

- Hormonal changes in the body that may have adverse effects
- Dehydration is also known to trigger migraines
- Patients with hypoglycemia may also face migraines if the blood sugar level drops within their body
- Change in air pressure due to change in altitude may also cause migraines to appear
- Lack of sleep
- Stress
- Lifestyle issues such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption.

Remedies for Migraine in Homeopathy

Migraine is treated in homeopathy by attacking the root causes that may trigger them. Rather than temporarily alleviating pain, homeopathic treatments aim at curing the problem completely.

Some of the medicines that are known to be effective are:

  • Natrum Mur: This provides great relief from migraines, which may have been caused by stress. Also, if a proper dosage is taken, it can help cure it as well.
  • Belladonna: This had been known to be a great provider of relief for people who regularly face throbbing headaches.
  • Glonoine: For people who frequently have migraines due to congestion of the sinuses, this medicine has been known to be very effective.
  • Spigelia: To treat migraines in the left side of the head.
  • Sanguinaria: Is highly effective for situations where the migraine is on the right side of the head.

Standard recommendation is to start foods other than milk only after 6 months of age. If breast milk is not enough as evidenced by slow weight gain, formula milk may be used. If you have already started giving solids, you can either stop and give a milk feed instead or keep it only once per day till after 6 months.

My child does’t want to go to school and having hatred for his present and previous class teachers. He is 13 years old. His academic performance is going down day by day and he has lost his interest in studies as well as in hobbies. Whenever we talk about School, he gets panic and restless. He is visiting a counsellor for last one month but situation remains same. He is ready to spoil his one year but not ready to go to school at any cost. School authorities say that the child is behaving normally in the school. But my child is saying that he doesn't want to show his problem that’s why he pretends to be normal. He feels negativity in the school. He has developed the feeling of insecurity and wants me to be around him for the whole day. I am a working mother. What to do? Should I leave my job and spend more time with him. Should I change his school or make him to fight with negativity? Please help.

He needs someone who will listen to his problem help him, be with him for 1 or 2 periods in class may Counselor or shadow teacher can do it, before this she has to build a good rapport with him so that he would be able to share his problem, help him to make friends in class ;start rewarding him in front of class for sitting in class even if he will sit for 1period. Teacher should give him a class responsibility. Motivate him to do his favourite activity in activity periods. Teacher's appreciation would definitely motivate him to sit in class.

Usually children start crawling after 7 months and creeping after 10 months. They start saying 2 to 3 meaningful words after 1 year.

lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. Your blood glucose levels are fine. There is no reason to stop breast feeding. Even mothers with either T1 or T2 diabetes are advised to breast feed the baby exclusively for 6 months or longer. Thanks.

My son is 10 years old. He is always in some dream world. He has become from good to bad to worse. He isn't mingling with people much. Sometimes we feel he is faking it. What should we do?

MBBS, MD
Pediatrician, Nagpur
Hi. Are there any stress factors that the child is facing? this kind of feeling arises during adolescent period as the children want more and more independence. I would suggest that you should take the child into confidence and know about his problem. Also try to know about the people with whom the child is comfortable with and ask them to have a talk with the child. Don't let the child feel lonely and neglected.
