Dermatologists or trichologist use the following tests to diagnose baldness: • Pull test for evaluating diffuse scalp hair loss • Pluck test by pulling hair out of the roots • Scalp biopsy for differentiating between scarring and non-scarring forms • Daily hair counts is done when pull test is negative • Trichoscopy is a non-invasive method of hair and scalp test
HOW IS BALDNESS TREATED?
Treatment of baldness depends on its cause. From medicines like Minoxidil which is available without a prescription to hair transplant surgeries, many options are available. Hairpieces and hair products may also be used. The problem is also treated with homemade remedies like putting onion paste on scalp, massage with castor oil, etc. Ayurvedic shampoos and medicines are also helpful.
