Ankle sprain is an injury to the ligaments or tough bands of tissue that surround and connect the bones of the leg to the feet. Ankle sprain occurs due to sudden, accidental twisting of the ankle. Ankle sprain occurs at any age and may occur during a sport activity or even due to wearing inappropriate footwear. Symptoms are pain at the site of ligament tear, bruising, swelling, skin discoloration and snapping noise while walking. The snapping noise occurs when the sprain is severe.
HOW IS ANKLE SPRAIN DIAGNOSED?
Diagnosis is done through physical examination for determining which ligament is torn. Orthopedicians may ask you to get an X-Ray or an MRI to rule out fracture.
HOW IS ANKLE SPRAIN TREATED?
