I take it a medicament sinogan, because I was desperate not to sleep and hurt much head the doctor I visited told me that had no importance and not he sent me nothing to sleep, then I was told that drug was used for sleeping and I bought it, but really not is the reason for the insomnia If I was thinking about not taking it more, because it says that it is for schizophrenia and other things, and the adverse effects they are scary because they affect many things Is that according to what I think is that both antibiotic affect me the nervous system and as I think that can not sleep. Because from January to may of this year I took as 9 different antibiotics, including antifungal and amoebas. And all those caused me acidity and hurt my throat with the acids of the stomach And that is why I have now destroyed bacterial flora I think it could be poisoning of antibiotics my body maybe.

One of my friend is a 4 times brain surgery patient. And doctor told that he might get the seizures breakthrough. So suggest diet to follow to prevent from seizures (mirgi) attack. And list all diet to avoid for the same.

BHMS
Homeopath, Raebareli
Please note that seizures are very common factors in such bt patients - its part of the disease. You cannot stop seizure - it will happen till the disease is completely healed. Mere surgery - radio/chemo therapy is not helpful for such cases. You need homeopathic medicines to treat the patient by oral medication.

Sleep only for 2 hours is too inadequate for anyone. You definitely need to consult a doctor for your problems at your earliest. Consult a psychiatrist with any brain scans done earlier.

I recently read that researchers believe certain foods might cure alzheimer disease. Ls this true? If so which food do this and how much would you have to consume to get benefits?

DPM, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Mumbai
There is no cure for alzheimer's but certain food items are showing promising results in preventing the disorder. Whether they can reverse the damage is yet to be seen. The most researched ingredient is turmeric, or'haldi' research is on to find out a way to administer this substance as a medicine. Till we have an answer, the regular use of this spice in indian cooking in the regular dosage seems more than enough. Taking more of it orally may not really be beneficial.

My father who is 52 years of age has been diagnosed of multiple sclerosis but we do not know the basis of it and the cure for it. Can you please help?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, The name multiple sclerosis refers to the multiple scars (or scleroses) on the myelin sheaths. MS results from attacks by an individual’s immune system on his or her own nervous system, and it is therefore called an autoimmune disease. The various expressions of disease can be managed effectively, gently, and safely with Homeopathy. Early intervention with homeopathy can assist in preventing further progress and hence deterioration caused by disease. A complete case history is needed for the prescription. Thank you.

Causes and Symptoms of Dementia

MBBS, MD - Psychiatry, MBA (Healthcare)
Psychiatrist, Davanagere
Causes and Symptoms of Dementia

Dementia cannot be singularly regarded as a specific disease, but rather indicates a group of symptoms associated with your memory, cognitive thinking, and social abilities, up to the point where daily functioning gets affected. In most cases, dementia steadily worsens over time (progressive dementias). Dementia is not to be confused with memory loss alone; because it is natural with old people to experience memory loss, but that does not necessarily mean they have dementia. If the reason is dementia, then you may require medical treatment.

Causes:

Dementias are generally caused either by damage to or changes in the nerve cells operating in the brain. The causes can be grouped differently based on the type of dementia experienced and the part of the brain affected. While some causes can be reversed with effective treatment, others, unfortunately, cannot.

The most common causes of dementia which cannot be reversed include:

  1. Alzheimer's disease
  2. Vascular dementia
  3. Parkinson's disease
  4. Frontotemporal dementia
  5. Dementia with Lewy (dementia which is neurodegenerative and progressive in nature) bodies
  6. Severe head injuries

Other irreversible causes which are relatively rarer than usual include:

  1. Huntington's disease (breakage of the brain's nerve cells)
  2. Creutzfeldt-jakob disease (irreversible and fatal brain disease)
  3. Multiple sclerosis or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  4. Infections like syphilis
  5. Leukoencephalopathies (diseases affecting the brain's'white' areas)
  6. Brain injuries
  7. Multiple system atrophy

Causes of dementia which can be treated include:

  1. Hypothyroidism
  2. Heavy metal poisoning
  3. Certain brain tumors
  4. Chronic alcoholism
  5. Hiv/aids
  6. Vitamin b12 deficiency
  7. Medicinal side effects or abnormal drug reactions
  8. Normal pressure hydrocephalus
  9. Certain cases of encephalitis

Symptoms

Symptoms of dementia include:

  1. Memory loss
  2. Difficulty finding the right words
  3. Difficulty exercising judgments, especially during emergencies
  4. Inability to recall particular events or to recognize people and places
  5. Depression or other mood disorders, in addition to symptoms like uncontrolled aggression or constant agitation.

I am a 22 year old male. I hve been having nexito forte tablet for last 2 years for my anxiety disorder. Now I am fine but when I try to get rid of the medicine. The symptoms comes back. How to get rid of this medicine? Is it in anyway would be affecting my career? I am also addicted to excessive masturbation. Is it the reason for my low serotonin level. Is it the reason behind my insomnia.

Dear lybrate-user, if you are better with nexito forte, why do you want to stop. With the symptoms your quality of life will be less and your career may be affected. So I would advise you to continue the drug and consult your doctor again. If the doctor offers some form of talk therapy like cbt (cognitive behaviour therapy), probably you may be able to stop drugs without getting back symptoms. But cbt itself may take many session and will go on for 5-6 months weekly sessions. Both nexito and cbt will reduce your symptoms and you can plan for better career. By themselves it will not affect your career. Masturbation will not lower serotonin level or insomnia. But guilt of masturbation can cause. So you should get rid of guilt. Again nexito and cbt will help in getting rid of guilt.
