Please do proper investigation especially for spine, brain, shoulders to find cause of vertigo. Sometimes it is undigested food causing severe gas that can also cause such feelings. Proper investigations first.

Hello Sir, I am 28 year old male. Occasionally I feel chest burns and Piercing feeling in the left side of the chest. Lately it has been there for more than 5 days. I am a bit tensed about what to do. I am a chain smoker which makes it even more dangerous, but I am unable to quit ciggarates. Please advice the next step. I can not figure out if its an indigestion problem or a probable symptom.

Dear Lybrateuser, -Your problem could be due to acidity -avoid fried, spicy & junk food, chew your food well, do not skip meals, have meals on time, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bed time -stop/reduce smoking as it causes all the problems, stopping it can reverse the harmful changes -take syrup gelusil, 2teaspoonful half an hour after every meal -do regular exercises like brisk walking, jogging, cycling, do yoga, deep breathing for 10-15 min in the morning -as you are a smoker get investigations done, blood sugar, cholesterol profile, x-ray chest, ecg, tmt to rule out any heart problem, consult a doctor.

You are right, even doctors get confused & perform test like ecg (not very definite though) and a troponin test (cost 200- 1000/- in best place) which is specific only when damage to muscles of heart has occurred- heart attack.

Smoking even one cigarette is hazardous for the heart. Five is bad and chain smoking is worst. Smoke not only contain tar but about 100 chemicals and most of them are bad. Heart attack with instant death is the most dreaded impact. Quit it completely and instantly. Start chewing gum and cardamom whenever you get a feeling of smoking. In just 3-4 weeks, you would have quit smoking. Eat fresh fruits, drink 3 litres of water, a normal home made food.

How to reduce bad cholesterol. What are the easy measures that we could follow in our home.
we can do simply test lipid profile by blood .. High cholesterol increases your risk of heart disease and heart attacks. You can improve cholesterol with medications, but if you'd rather first make lifestyle changes to improve your cholesterol, try these five healthy changes. If you already take medications, these changes can improve their cholesterol-lowering effect. 1. Eat heart-healthy foods Even if you have years of unhealthy eating under your belt, making a few changes in your diet can reduce cholesterol and improve your heart health. Choose healthier fats. Saturated fats, found primarily in red meat and dairy products, raise your total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, the "bad" cholesterol. As a rule, you should get less than 7 percent of your daily calories from saturated fat. Choose leaner cuts of meat, low-fat dairy and monounsaturated fats — found in olive and canola oils — for healthier options. Eliminate trans fats. Trans fats affect cholesterol levels by increasing the "bad" cholesterol and lowering the "good" cholesterol. This bad combination increases the risk of heart attacks. Trans fats can be found in fried foods and many commercial products, such as cookies, crackers and snack cakes. But don't rely on packages that are labeled "trans fat-free." In the United States, if a food contains less than 0.5 grams of trans fat in a serving, it can be labeled "trans fat-free." Even small amounts of trans fat can add up if you eat foods that contain small amounts of trans fat. Read the ingredient list, and avoid foods with partially hydrogenated oils. Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids don't affect LDL cholesterol. They have other heart benefits, such as helping to increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or "good") cholesterol, reducing your triglycerides, a type of fat in your blood, and reducing blood pressure. Some types of fish — such as salmon, mackerel and herring — are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Other good sources of omega-3 fatty acids include walnuts, almonds and ground flaxseeds. Increase soluble fiber. There are two types of fiber — soluble and insoluble. Both have heart-health benefits, but soluble fiber also helps lower your LDL levels. You can add soluble fiber to your diet by eating oats and oat bran, fruits, beans, lentils, and vegetables. Add whey protein. Whey protein is one of two proteins in dairy products — the other is casein. Whey protein may account for many of the health benefits attributed to dairy. Studies have shown that whey protein given as a supplement lowers both LDL and total cholesterol. You can find whey protein powders in health food stores and some grocery stores.

Any young man may have pain chest with many reasons, mainly indigestion, sleeplessness, anxiety stress, muscular pain, bone pain viral infection of ribs etc. Main thing is take mild pain killer like crocin 1 or 2 a day.

Hello Mr. lybrate-user.I guess your weight is more than expected .try to reduce weight. Do regular walking. Start salt limiting diet. Avoid oily spicy food. Reduce Stress factor if you have any .if possible get your lipid profile and ECG done .soon you'll feel difference in your bp readings. If you find something in your reports you can take homeopathic medicines after detail case takings for many things like Cholesterol disturbances, Obesity, weight Gain, Stress Factor and many issues .If Bp is Excedding above 140/90 you will need to start antihypertensive medicines after consulting Cardiologist later on. Dear Lybrateuser, - Your mother has to take the medication continuously, the BP has come down because of the medication, if you stop it it will again rise - take the advise of your treating doctor if any alteration or change in medication is required - restrict salt & salty foods, avoid fried & processed food - she should have a well balanced diet, with more of fruits & vegetables including green leafy & seasonal ones, whole grains, low fat dairy & lean protein foods, nuts - do regular exercise like walking morning, evening for 20-30 min - try to sleep well for 6-7 hrs at least at night - check BP regularly.

These are generalised symptoms & more likely to be acid peptic disease. However I would suggest you to rule cardiac cause first by undergoing an ecg, echocardiogram.

Dear lybrate user, your blood pressure seems to be on the higher side, but one reading is not sufficient to make a conclusive diagnosis of hypertension. Additional details like history, weight, height, lifestyle, etc are also important. It is important you consult a physician privately, which will enable the particular doctor to prescribe you specific treatment after checking your blood pressure. Meanwhile, you could observe the following to help improve your blood pressure: - Sleep well at least 6-7 hrs everyday. Do not get stressed about issues. - Drink less coffee and tea, quit smoking - Eat less salt, less processed foods (papad, pickles, noodles, etc.) - Eat small meals (preferably home-cooked) at regular timings everyday Get well soon!

In ayurveda, Hypertension is referred to as Rakta Capa Vriddhi and it sees the vitiation of vata and pitta doshas as the main cause. Mix 1 teaspoon of onion juice with an equal amount of honey. Take once a day for 1 week. Upon noticing improvement, continue for several more days. Take sarpgandha vati twice a day. Yogendra ras. Akik bhasm works very good in case of hypertension. Hello, bp is fairly controlled, you should first monitor the bp then we ll try to change bp meds according to readings. You should also get your sugars, lipid profile done once. Healthy lifestyle like avoiding fatty, oily and high calorie diet. Have low salt diet and monitor blood pressure regularly thrice a day for one week then once or twice a week. Regular exercises like brisk walking, jogging according your capacity atleast 30 min a day and 5 days a week. Lots of green leafy vegetables, fruits, fish once or twice a week, avoid meat. Avoid smoking and alcohol if any. There shouldn't abdominal fat deposition or obesity.
