Hi Lybrate user, I would suggest you to avoid fried, desserts, pickles and junk foods. Drink lots of water whole day to keep yourself hydrated and also overcome acne issues. You can easily have chicken and eggs in your diet, just avoid eating it fried. For acne, I would suggest you to gently rub the mixture of sulfur+coconut oil+kapur on your acne and keep it overnight. Use multani mitti/ besan (if suits you) instead of face washes and soaps to clean. Its a slow process will take a few months to recover so keep doing this regularly with patience and you will get good results. Good luck!

I workout for minimum 3 days a week and trying to increase on number of days but should I consume protien supplements to get toned and to increase muscle growth? my food does not include any protien rich meat or anything like that. Are protien supplements harmful to health? Do they have harmful effects over the time over body? I have a lot of fat around by belly and want to get rid of it. But does protien supplement help me getting toned? If yes, then which one?

Hi Lybrate user, using supplements for weight gain would give you the results initially but once you discontinue the use you might come back to your present weight. You should try to loose weight naturally through diet as that would help you in a much better way and will give you better results and for long run. You need to incorporate foods rich in protein (like- chicken, fish, eggs, soy and soy products, pulses, quinoa, etc) and also need to do some strenous exercises (like gyming, stretching etc) that will increase muscle mass and also help tone your body. Good luck!

Hi Lybrate user, you need to follow a diet rich in protein (like- chicken, fish, eggs, soybean, pulses, quinoa etc) and fiber (like salad, fruits). Reduce the intake of high carbohydrate foods especially simple carbs (refined flour, breads, sugar, sweets etc) and saturated fat (like mayo, cheese etc), can have good fat in the diet. Also with this avoid the intake of salt after 7 pm, and in dinner you can go for salads, fruits etc. Avoid junk foods, fried foods. Increase the intake of water to keep yourself hydrated all day. Good luck!

Hello Lybrate user, I would suggest you to follow a diet rich in proteins, eating proteins in every meal will help you boost metabolism as well as help you in weight loss. Along with this you also need to incorporate foods rich in fiber as this also helps you cut fat from the body and help you in weight reduction as well as improves digestion. Basically you need to cut down on calories from simple carbohydrate foods and consume calories from complex carbohydrate foods, proteins and fiber. Drink lots of water throughout the day helps in improving the metabolism and also cuts fat from the body ultimately leading to weight loss. Good luck!

I want gain more concentration in my studies. Can you please recommend me that which food will help me to do so.

B.Sc. - Dietitics / Nutrition, Masters in Nutritional Therapy, Certified Diabetes Educator

Hi Lybrate user, Concentrating while studying can be hard, especially when the study material isn't one of your favorite topics. Here are some tips that you can follow- 1. Look for an appropriate study environment- like sit in private room or library, open air 2. Clear the study space- keep your surroundings clean 3. Turn off all unnecessary electronics- like phone 4. Stick to a routine- follow your study schedule 5. Find a study partner- Sometimes reviewing material with someone else can help break up the monotony of studying, clarify confusing concepts by bouncing ideas off of someone else, and see things from a different perspective. 6. Think of an incentive- Before you start studying, think of something that can serve as a reward for you successfully studying. An incentive can motivate you to concentrate on studying for a specific amount of time, and then you reward yourself for your solid block of time concentrating on your work. 7. Eat a healthy diet like- eat more of proteins (animal proteins like- chicken, eggs, fish- plant proteins like- sprouts, pulses, soy, milk, yogurt etc) instead of eating more of fat foods, fried foods. Keep yourself hydrated all day. Hope these tips help you. Good luck!

Hi, I wanna know what to drink before and after the morning workout and exercises? Is having too many green tea (7-8cups) in a day a good habit or not?

Hello Lybrate user, eating the right food I the morning can affect your health all day long. Typically it takes food about 45 minutes to digest so I suggest you to eat small meals 45 minutes to an hour before you work out. For about 45-60 minutes total gym workout, your pre-workout snack should be about 200 calories. This will give you enough fuel to energize your workout but not so much so your body feels sluggish because it is using so much energy digesting. When it comes to energy, carbohydrates are your best friend! They break down quickly so your body can use the fuel to energize your workout first thing in the morning. Here are some of my favorite examples: • 1 slice whole wheat toast, 1 tbsp almond butter, ½ banana • 1/2 cup plain yogurt and ½ cup fresh berries • 1 apple & 10 cashews • 1 scoop protein powder, 1/2 cup fresh fruit or vegetable juice and post workout meal should be carbohydrate + proteins + electrolyte i.e. You can have bread omelet with juice/ banana or milk + oats and banana Green tea is good to replace with evening tea made of milk if wish to have a zero calorie drink but consuming more than 2 times a day is harmful as it lowers down the blood pressure levels, affects kidneys and even affects the joints, so its ok if you keep green tea consumption to 2 times a day and not more than that. Good luck!

Hi Lybrate user, I would suggest you to follow a moderate protein diet, avoid animal proteins specially and can go for plant proteins once a day and calcium like- milk, mushrooms, paneer etc can be taken once a day. With this avoid foods rich in saturated fats, high salt foods, canned foods, carbonated beverages, fried foods. Eat fruits once a day and avoid foods with high potassium like- banana, avocados, green leafy vegetables, apricots etc. And also avoid heavy legumes like- rajma, white chhole, black chana etc can be taken once a week as you need to avoid loading your kidneys with excess of proteins. Try following this will help you. Good luck!
