About Morcon Tablet

Morphine is a narcotic drug that is prescribed for instant pain relief. It is generally used as a pre-anaesthetic medication to reduce acute and chronic pain during surgery, labour and other pain intensive disease/procedures. It works by directly affecting the Central Nervous System.

Morcon Tablet is an opiate type naturally found substance in the bodies of several plants and animals. It helps to relieve both acute and chronic pain. Also, it is used as preanesthetic medication.

The medication is available in both oral (pill) and injected directly into the vein (injection) form. However, it is a controlled substance which means its consumption needs to be done under strict supervision. This is because it can be a habit-forming medication that can cause addiction.

It can also help to reduce immense pain and discomfort due to myocardial infarction and even intolerable aches of cancer. This medication is also helpful in relieving dyspnea of acute left ventricular failure and pulmonary edema.

Morcon Tablet must be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding as the drug is known to be excreted in human milk. Morcon Tablet can be injected directly into the vein (intravenous), or taken orally in the form of a tablet of solution.

Morcon Tablet also belongs to a class of drugs called narcotics, and the intake of morphine on a regular basis turns into an addiction. This leads to drug abuse which may cause immense health complications, and eventually death. You should also abstain from alcohol totally to avoid any kind of fatal complications.

Side effects of morphine include both physical and mental discomforts. These include vomiting, persistent nausea, dry mouth, irregular menstrual periods, decreased sexual urge, dizziness, depression and substance abuse and dependence.

Do not use morphine in case of head injury, tumour, seizures, asthma, sleep apnea, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, gallbladder disease, kidney disease, liver disease, mental/mood disorders.         Patient must avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol as this may causes additive CNS effects. One must watch for sedation effect after its consumption.

        Increased toxicity: CNS depressants, tricyclic antidepressants may potentiate the effects of morphine and other opiate agonists; dextroamphetamine may enhance the analgesic effect of morphine and other opiate agonists.

        Sugar and sugar incorporated food items must be avoided. As glucose may cause hyperglycemia. Monitor blood glucose concentration regularly.

        • Use with caution in patients with impaired respiratory function or severe hepatic dysfunction and in patients with hypersensitivity reactions to other phenanthrene derivative opioid agonists (codeine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, levorphanol, oxycodone, oxymorphone).
