About Microdox-Lbx Capsule

Microdox-Lbx Capsule is primarily prescribed to treat bacterial infections. This medicine is a combination belonging to the class of antibiotics. It contains doxycycline and Lactobacillus as the active ingredients.

Doxycycline belongs to the class of tetracycline which blocks a bacterial protein from being made and therefore prevents the growth of bacteria. Whereas, Lactobacillus is a friendly bacteria, which is helpful in restoring intestinal flora, post-antibiotic diarrhea and for prevention of post-antibiotic vulvovaginal yeast infection

Being Antibiotic, Microdox-Lbx Capsule is helpful in treating some sexually transmitted diseases, intestinal infections, skin infections, eye infections, urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and others. This drug may also be used as part of a combination therapy to treat severe acne and to prevent malaria.

Before taking Microdox-Lbx Capsule, you should tell your doctor if you are:

  • Taking any medication for any clinical condition
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Liver disease

It is advised to take medicine as per the doctor’s prescription. It can be taken with or without food, but must be taken at the fixed time to ensure the better efficacy of this medication. Most importantly, the medication course must be completed even if you started to feel better. As sudden discontinuation of the medication may affect its potency .

Symptoms of overdose of Microdox-Lbx Capsule include nausea, anorexia, diarrhea. This must follow gastrointestinal decontamination, supportive care only; fluid support may be required for hypotension. You must consult the doctor in case of overdosing.

    How does this medication work?

    The capsule is a synthetic tetracycline with antimicrobial properties. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit and thus prevents the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex which in turn prevents protein synthesis in the bacterium. It also produces lactic acid in the intestine thereby preventing pathogens or bad bacteria from entering and growing. The lactic acid produced by Lactobacillus helps in restoring gastro-intestinal health.

        • Iron and bismuth subsalicylate may decrease medicine bioavailability

        Dietary Consideration

        Administration with iron, calcium, milk or other dairy products may decrease medicine absorption. May decrease absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, and amino acids.
