Minor mouth irritations like canker, cold sores, and nicks are treated with oral application. It also has a use in tooth whitening and can be found in tooth pastes designed for that purpose.

It can be used on skin directly on the cuts and bruises in small amounts. If it is used as mouth wash, it may be mixed with equal amount of water and swished in the mouth cavity for about a couple of minutes.
