About Forecox Tablet

Forecox Tablet is a combination drug that is employed in the treatment of tuberculosis, it works by preventing the growth of infection-causing microorganisms. Forecox is an antibacterial drug which kills tuberculosis causing organisms. Therefore, it is used for the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis. It is supposed to be used with other medicines till it increase its effectiveness.

Forecox Tablet is a prescription drug and is taken as directed by the doctor. This medicine should be taken in recommended dosage only, consuming more than that may cause adverse reactions. Avoid using this tablet if you are allergic to it, if you have any liver disorders or if you have had hepatitis from any medicine. Tell your doctor if you have:

  • diabetes
  • A history of alcohol or other substance abuse
  • Kidney problems
  • Nerve problems
  • Unsanitary injectable drug habits
  • HIV
  • A history of liver problems

The course of the treatment of Forecox Tablet should be completed, even after the symptoms are gone as discontinuing it may affect the potency of the drug. The effect of the medicine takes time to show its effect, however, consult with the doctor in the case of exacerbation of health conditions.

You must also tell your doctor if you are older than 35 years old, you have recently given birth, or you have previously taken isoniazid. This medicine should be taken 1 or 2 hours before meals. The dosage is based on your medical condition, age and how you respond to the first dose of the medicine.

Before starting Forecox Tablet, notify the doctor of any allergies, recent medications, and health conditions such as kidney and liver ailments as it may or may not interfere with the health condition. Pregnant, planning a pregnancy, breastfeeding women should consult with the doctor before starting Forecox Tablet.

Additionally, avoid alcohol consumption while taking Forecox Tablet as it may cause excessive drowsiness. It is advised to take adequate rest and have a healthy diet to recover fast, also, the doctor may order some tests to know the effect of the drug on the body.

    This tablet is an inactive compound which is known as a prodrug. It needs to be activated by the catalase of bacteria. Once this medication has been activated it brings about inhibition of the synthesis of the mycolic acids.

      Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.

        Reacts with Acetest® and Ketostix® to produce pinkish-brown color. False-positive urinary glucose with Clinitest®.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        • Decreased effect/levels of isoniazid with aluminum salts.
        • Increased toxicity/levels of oral anticoagulants, carbamazepine, cycloserine, meperidine, hydantoins, hepatically metabolized benzodiazepines with isoniazid; reaction with disulfiram occurs; enflurane with isoniazid may result in renal failure especially in rapid acetylators.
        • Increased hepatic toxicity with alcohol or with rifampin and isoniazid.
      • Interaction with Food

        Should be administered 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals on an empty stomach; avoid foods with histamine or tyramine (cheese, broad beans, dry sausage, salami, nonfresh meat, liver pate, soy bean, liquid and powdered protein supplements, wine); increase dietary intake of folate, niacin, magnesium.
      • Interaction with Disease

        • Use with caution in patients with renal impairment and chronic liver disease. Severe and sometimes fatal hepatitis may occur or develop even after many months of treatment; patients must report any prodromal symptoms of hepatitis, such as fatigue, weakness, malaise, anorexia, nausea, or vomiting.
        • Children with low milk and low meat intake should receive concomitant pyridoxine therapy. Periodic ophthalmic examinations are recommended even when usual symptoms do not occur; pyridoxine (10-50 mg/day) is recommended in individuals likely to develop peripheral neuropathies.
