About Esoz L Capsule Sr

This is a combination medication which has Levosulpiride and Esomeprazole as active ingredients. It is used in the treatment of conditions caused by excessive production of acid in the stomach. The conditions may include erosive esophagitis, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Helicobactor pylori infections and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Belonging to the drug group of proton pump inhibitors, It blocks the proton pump in your stomach’s cells. When this proton pump gets blocked, there will be less production of acid in your stomach.

It should be kept in mind that this medication is processed by the liver. If you have chronic liver disease, the body will be unable to process it well, causing a build-up of the drug. Also, this medicine can pass on to a child through his/her mother by breastfeeding.

    How does this medication work?

    This medication works by selectively binding to dopamine receptors in the brain and the periphery. It results in an increased tone of muscles in the gastrointestinal tract. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor drug and binds to H+/K+-exchanging ATPase in gastric parietal cells, resulting in blockage of acid secretion.

        Ethanol

        Avoid or limit the uptake of alcohol while taking this medication as the risk of adverse effects are increasingly high. Contact your doctor if an excess of drowsiness is experienced.
      • Interaction with Lab Test

        Prolactin test

        Report the use of this medication before undergoing a laboratory test to determine the levels of the hormone prolactin in the body. This medicine can interfere with the test and yield false-positive results.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Diltiazem

        Report the use of diltiazem or any other medicine taking for managing high blood pressure to the doctor. These medicines should be used with caution as the risk of adverse effects are increasingly high. Your doctor may determine the best course of treatment after assessing the conditions.

        Pregabalin

        Heart Diseases

        This medication should be used with caution in patients suffering from a disease of the heart and blood vessels. You may require an adjusted dose and safety monitoring to safely use this medicine.

        Gastrointestinal Bleeding

        This medication should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from perforation and bleeding of the stomach and the intestine. Report any instance of fever with chills, nausea, vomiting, presence of blood in stool to the doctor.

        Prolactin Imbalance

        This medication should not be used in patients having an abnormal level of the hormone prolactin. Breast cancer due to a high level of prolactin should be ruled out before treatment with this medicine is initiated.

        Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (Nms)

        Use of this medication is not recommended if the patient suffers from Neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Introduction or reintroduction of this medicine should be done with caution in patients having a known history of this syndrome.

        Asthma

        This medication should be used with caution if you have asthma. Report any instances of difficulty in breathing, wheezing, chest pain etc to the doctor immediately.
