Concor 2.5 MG Tablet

Concor 5 MG Tablet comprises of Bisoprolol, which is used for the treatment and prevention of hypertension and angina. It is an antihypertensive which is also used in the reduction of elevated blood pressure in combination with other agents or alone.

The administration of the medicine is usually done with caution for patients that are suffering from lung diseases. The tablet is used to inhibit the action of some chemicals in the body and it is used in the prevention of heart failure and myocardial infarction (MI).

Concor 5 MG Tablet should only be consumed only as per the prescription of the doctor and the dosage prescribed because the medicine has some side effects. The beta receptors sites present in the heart, lungs and blood vessels are blocked by the medicine.

This in turn reduces epinephrine which leads to blood vessels that are relaxed, with a lower blood pressure, improved flow of blood to the heart, and lower pressure. Concor 5 MG medicine is consumed orally and the dosage usually varies from 5mg to 20mg in some cases.

If diabetic, monitor serum sugars closely (may alter glucose tolerance or mask signs of hypoglycemia). May cause fatigue, dizziness, or postural hypotension; use caution when changing position from lying or sitting to standing, or when driving or climbing stairs until response to medication is known.

May cause alteration in sexual performance (reversible). Report palpitations, unresolved swelling of extremities, difficulty breathing or new cough, unresolved fatigue, unusual weight gain, unresolved constipation, or unusual muscle weakness.

  For Concor, the patient must take the missed dose as soon as possible and skip the dose if the time for the next dose as scheduled occurs. Doubling the dose is not advisable.

This medicine blocks beta receptors sites in the heart, blood vessels, and lungs. This results in inhibition of epinephrine resulting in relaxed blood vessels, thus pressure is lowered and blood flow to the heart is improved.

  Concomitant use of the following along with the following medicines must be avoided:

  • CYP2D6 enzyme substrate
  • Clonidine: Hypertensive crisis after or during withdrawal of either agent.
  • Drugs which slow AV conduction (digoxin): Effects may be additive with beta-blockers.
  • Glucagon: Bisoprolol may blunt the hyperglycemic action of glucagon.
  • Insulin: Bisoprolol may mask tachycardia from hypoglycemia.
  • NSAIDs (ibuprofen, indomethacin, naproxen, piroxicam) may reduce the antihypertensive effects of beta-blockers.
  • Salicylates may reduce the antihypertensive effects of beta-blockers.
  • Sulfonylureas: Beta-blockers may alter response to hypoglycemic agents.

• Interaction with Disease

  • Asthma : This medication should not be used in patients suffering from bronchial asthma or any other lung disease. Inform the doctor if you had any history of lung diseases or a family history of lung disease. Dose adjustments or an alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.
  • Bradyarrhythmia/Av Block : This medication or other beta-blockers are not recommended in the patients with Sinus Bradyarrhythmia or heart block greater than the first degree. Inform the doctor if you have any heart diseases or family history of heart diseases. An alternate medicine should be considered based on the clinical condition.
  • Glaucoma : This medication should be administered with caution in a patients suffering from Glaucoma. It may further lower the pressure in the eye.
