This medication is composed of Metformin, Benfotiamine and helps to maintain balanced blood sugar levels in the body. It is used to treat Type 2 Diabetes and works by decreasing the amount of glucose produced by the liver. Thus, it lowers the blood sugar levels in the body of a patient suffering from Type 2 diabetes.

The drug decreases glucose production in the liver, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing bodies glucose uptake and utilization. It is a lipid-based synthetic analogue of Thymine or Vitamin B1 with greater bioavailability than other Thiamine salts. The medicine is also dephosphorylated by ecto-alkaline phosphatases to S-benzoylthiamine in the intestinal mucosa, which is then hydrolyzed to thiamine by liver thioesterases.
