About Ampoxin Cv 500 Mg/125 Mg Tablet

Ampoxin is a combination of two medicines- Amoxycillin and Clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin prevents the growth and division of the bacterial cell wall. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which enhances anti-bacterial activity.

This medication is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections like in the ear, nose, throat, lower respiratory tract, skin, urinary tract, stomach ulcer and febrile neutropenia.

Typically, doctors recommend a dosage of 1 tablet every 8 hours or 12 hours. Ampoxin Cv 500 Mg/125 Mg Tablet should be swallowed whole with or immediately after eating food.

    How does this medication work?

    This drug is a Penicillin antibiotic and inhibits the transfer of a peptide group in the transpeptidation process. As a result the bacterium is not able to build cell walls and is killed. It also works as a beta-lactamase inhibitor by binding to beta-lactamase enzyme produced by bacterial cells, which in turn inhibits its enzymatic action and prevents beta-lactam antibiotics from being metabolised by the enzyme.
