A problem of the eye is called Retinal Detachment where the retina tends to get detached from the layer underneath the same. In such conditions the patient would experience the problem of floater followed with flashes of light and in other cases there is a kind of a curtain coming over the eye thus blocking the vision. Both eyes or even a single eye can get affected.

Retinal detachment is diagnosed by retinal examination in which opthalmologist may use an ophthalmoscope to examine the back of the eye and the retina to see any retinal holes, tears or detachments.An ultrasound imaging is done to check for bleeding in the eye.
HOW IS RETINAL DETACHMENT TREATED?
Treatment for Retinal Detachment depends on the severity of the condition and the stage at which it is diagnosed. Common treatment methods are laser freezing, pneumatic retinopexy, scleral buckle, vitrectomy or a combination of these treatments.
