Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects the myelin sheath, the protective lining that covers the nerve cells of the brain and the spinal cord. This causes a disruption in the ability of the nerve cells to communicate leading to physical, mental and psychiatric problems. Symptoms include double vision, blindness in one eye, muscle weakness, trouble with sensation, or trouble with coordination. While the symptoms may disappear after the attack subsides, permanent neurological problems remain.

There is no cure for multiple sclerosis. Treatment typically focuses on speeding recovery from attacks, slowing the progression of the disease and managing MS symptoms. Some people have such mild symptoms that no treatment is necessary. Treatments for MS signs and symptoms may include
