Normally Aortic valves have three cusps that regulate blood from the heart’s left ventricle to the Aorta. People affected with BAV have only two cusps instead of a normal three. An abnormal aortic valve develops during the early weeks of pregnancy, when the baby's heart develops. The cause of this problem is unclear, but it is the most common congenital heart disease.
HOW IS BICUSPID AORTIC VALVE DIAGNOSED?
