I have a bad habit of smoking, a minimum of 6 to 8 cigarettes per day since 3 years. Sometimes when I cough from the throat to spit I notice a bit of blood in my spit. It does not happen always but sometimes like once in a month. Is this a sign of throat or lung cancer? Please let me know any precautions or tests I can do.

Sometime I do something that I know it is wrong still I am doing n get depressed.
Hi, looking at your age, height and weight it seems that you are not giving proper attention to your physical health. It may be due to your depression. I can understand your feelings. Over thinking leads to negativity. First find out the root cause of your problems by writing down your problems on a paper. Then write down the pros and cons of over thinking on that problem. You yourself will see the correct path to solve your problems. And before doing anything start loving yourself which I think you have stopped doing. All the best. :)

I fell very depressed and sometimes I fell that I am alone. What are the suggestions for the problem doctor.

I fell very depressed and sometimes I fell that I am alone. What are the suggestions for the problem doctor.
When you do not feel positively motivated and up bit, it is normal to avoid connecting to other people around you and feel lonely. One of the reason you avoid talking and being with other individuals is a feeling that they do not understand you. If this is something you have developed recently then please follow things I am going to suggest here. If it is something which has happened due to some recent change in your life and if you want to talk about it feel free to call me. And in the meanwhile try following suggestion. Chronic stress is a byproduct of our busy life style these days, which at times leads to feeling of burnout and depression. Building your resilience will help you manage your stress and help in depression. Try following things to learn relaxation response which leads to better coping mechanism on a daily basis. To begin with doing guided progressive muscular relaxation before sleeping will help you relax. You could google and download an audio file. I would also suggest you to take a multiple small break to take 3 nice and deep breath while keeping your eyes closed. You could do this while sitting or standing or while even walking or climbing stairs (keep your eyes open in that case). When you take a nice and deep break there is actual physiological change in your body. This will help you to activate parasympathetic nervous system which promotes relaxation and helps you calm down and think more clearly. This will also actually improve your performance in your work. Along with this exercise is one of the best way to relive stress and stay fit. Engage in any kind of physical activity at least 4 times a week. This also helps in stress reduction. Along with this some relaxation exercises as well as engaging in joyful activities such as music, singing, dancing, reading, being in nature, gardening, talking with friends or anything which you enjoy will help reducing stress and rejuvenation of your mind and body. Have good routine for sleep and eating. Lot of research has now proven that sugar is very harmful for our health. Reduce sugar and refined white floor in your diet as much as you could. Along with this also increase consumption of raw vegetables in the form of salad in both the meals of your day. Hope this helps. Wishing you very best.

YOu may have to add or change the drugs if these are not useful.. 5 Ways to Fight Depression If you feel depressed, it's best to do something about it — depression doesn't just go away on its own. In addition to getting help from a doctor or therapist, here are 5 things you can do to feel better. 1. Exercise. Take a 15- to 30-minute brisk walk every day — or dance, jog, or bike if you prefer. People who are depressed may not feel much like being active. In addition to getting aerobic exercise, some yoga poses can help relieve feelings of depression. Two other aspects of yoga — breathing exercises and meditation — can also help people with depression feel better. 2. Nurture yourself with good nutrition. Depression can affect appetite. One person may not feel like eating at all, but another might overeat.. Proper nutrition can influence a person's mood and energy. So eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and get regular meals (even if you don't feel hungry, try to eat something light, like a piece of fruit, to keep you going). 3. Identify troubles, but don't dwell on them. Try to identify any situations that have contributed to your depression. When you know what's got you feeling blue and why, talk about it with a caring friend. Talking is a way to release the feelings and to receive some understanding. 4. Express yourself. With depression, a person's creativity and sense of fun may seem blocked. Exercise your imagination (painting, drawing, doodling, sewing, writing, dancing, composing music, etc.) and you not only get those creative juices flowing, you also loosen up some positive emotions. Take time to play with a friend or a pet, or do something fun for yourself. Find something to laugh about — a funny movie, perhaps. Laughter helps lighten your mood. 5. Try to notice good things. Depression affects a person's thoughts, making everything seem dismal, negative, and hopeless. If depression has you noticing only the negative, make an effort to notice the good things in life. Try to notice one thing, then try to think of one more. Consider your strengths, gifts, or blessings. Most of all, don't forget to be patient with yourself. Depression takes time to heal. If you are happy with these answers please click on "useful” link so that I can know my efforts are not wasted. If you want more clarifications or prescription for medicines consult me on this site to ask me directly and not in open questions session

Hi this could be due to stress- personal or workplace stress. You need to identify that. If their is any cognitive overload. You would need to manage time and schedule your activities likewise. Take frequent breaks. The head ache can be due to same reason. You can try breathing exercises. Since you are already taking balance diet and exercising its really commendable. Do let me know the actual situation you are in.

Depending on how long you have been drinking there could be other factors that need to be taken into consideration. As long as you need your drink, there could be an addiction. This could lead to increased tolerance levels so that over time you will need to drink more to get the same or greater effect. You need to identify why you need to drink, and go back into your childhood to find out other influences on your personality that makes you prone to addiction. Meet with an addiction counselor and work with them to sort out this drive. Your already display the classic tendency to first obsess about it and then compulsively feel driven to meet that need. The simplest thing to do is to do some other interesting activity during the evening times. Meet your oral need with some other non-intoxicating drink like soups, juices, and sodas with lime, etc. If you think that you will find it very difficult, then admit yourself to a hospital and go for de-addiction: which normally lasts for about two weeks. Then follow that up with addiction counseling from a professional for at least three years to completely get rid of the habit. If this is also not enough, then admit yourself into a de-addiction center and stay there for at least 6 months and after that attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving. Ultimately, it is your will power and the support that you receive from the medical fraternity and your close and dear ones. You must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i.e. another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide you on several measures and precautions you will need to take to stay with your resolve. Even after the rehabilitation you must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. Your family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. You cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to your drinking and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. Make a serious plan with the family and whoever else’s support you can get and act on it fast. As a combination these two therapies (counseling and rehabilitation) will aid in dealing with the addiction. It will however take a long time to completely come off of the enslavement.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry

Feeling disturbed and getting angry on issues that are not worth getting annoyed at, is a sign of your inability to deal with stressful situations. If this happens more often then you might need an evaluation for any underlying problems of the mind like anxiety, depression or impulse control disorders. Almost all psychological conditions lead to such problems in ones behaviour. Such behaviour problems can be effectively treated with counselling sessions, cbt and behaviour therapies. Medications can be used if necessary. Consult online for any queries and assistance.

Side effects are a common problem for people who take antidepressants. Most side effects are temporary and will go away after you take the medicine for a few weeks. If the side effects bother you, your doctor may be able to lower your dose or change your medicine. Do not suddenly quit taking your medicine. That could cause withdrawal symptoms or a return of your depression.

Pls tell me what should I do to be happy with her and should not be rude on her on the little things. As this daily fighting is disturbing our relationship.

You have a nature in you that resembles an eagle. You have expectations from her and when those small expectations don't happen you lose your cool. You burst out out of intense love because you want her to change. Instead of shouting at her you can first identify what makes you so irritable and how to change thought process and expectations. First be clear with how she should change and then let her know it in simple terms. That should change things.
