Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are ways to keep your uric acid to low values by decreasing intake of red meat, alcohol, rice in your diet and other purine rich sources should be reduced. Also increase your water intake so that uric acid is excreted from body well. Nowadays there is a medication by the name of febuxostat which helps in lowering uric acid levels in body. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Dear lybrate-user, check for your posture. Backache is aggravated with unsupported sitting for long hours, lifting a heavy backpack. Sit with a proper back support. Avoid bending forward and lifting heavy weights. Start taking hot water bag for relieving spasm and stiffness in the back muscles.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Obviously your management of blood sugar levels will continue under supervision of a general physician or an endocrinologist. From an orthopaedic point of view I advise you for regular physical therapy for both lower back and neck region, anti inflammatory medications as required, adequate calcium and vitamin d medications, daily walks for 2-3 km per day, please let me know if there are any symptoms like numbness, weakness or paresthesias in either upper or lower limbs, also rule out any other symptoms like fever etc. Let me know in 2-3 weeks time how you are feeling otherwise we might think of getting some x rays and blood tests done for you. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

I am 45 year old female and problem of backache from last year? What should I do.

I am 45 year old female and problem of backache from last year? What should I do.
Pain in back is becoming very common days it is because of normal day to day activity and lifestyle. Especially found lot of females complaining of back pain because of there day to day working and pressure. There could be many reasons for back pain. Many of the problems occur for which we are not aware. I understand your pain. Let me recommend you the treatment as well as the precautions you can take at home to get away your backache. Precautions: 1. Avoid forward bending, if required then bend your knees first and then bend forward. 2. Avoid weight lifting. 3. Sit in chairs or car seats with proper back support. 4. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back like sidelying. 5. Get enough vit d from sun as vit d keep bones strong including spine, 6. Drink plenty of water to enhance the inter vertebral disks 7. Avoid standing in the one position for a long time. 8. Try to sleep in a position that helps you maintain the curve in your back. Treatment- 1. Apply ice or heat which ever suits you directly to the area of low back pain will decrease swelling and inflammation, and ease your discomfort. Apply it for 10 to 15 minutes only. 2. Relaxing for 5 minutes after ice or heat treatment. Massage - ask someone to massage your painful area using fingers or thumb. Massage using kneading technique. Slightly press the thumb and start rotating as it helps to induce relaxation, relieve pain, and reduce levels of stress chemicals, such as cortisol and noradrenaline. It will give you pain relief for time being. 3. After massage again relax for 5 min and apply any pain relieving ointment eg - volini or oraflame gel etc. Make sure not to do massage with the gel, it should not penetrate the body. Just a topical application of gel should be done. 4. Again relax your body for 5 minutes and perform some normal back extension and hamstring stretching exercises to get relief from your pain. While performing exercises if pain occurs then would recommend you to stop doing exercise. Massage or slightly rub the painful area and consult your near by physio to diagnose the actual cause of the pain as he/she can guide you proper exercise plan which will be beneficial for you after checking grade of your back pain. For any doubt please inform. Best regards.

Hi I can understand your problem but physiotherapy, as physiotherapy is often essential for recovery and can include ultrasound, electric stimulation, range-of-motion exercise maneuvers, stretching, ice packs, and eventually strengthening exercises. Physical therapy can take weeks to months for recovery, depending on the severity of the scarring of the tissues around the shoulder.
