Yes dear you must show to nearby throat consultant for further detailing of your disease as the symptoms you explained to me are due to lack of hydration in the body, start taking foods which will help you in replenishing hydration and start taking iron rich diet to ensure not to get same disease multiple times.

How to get rid of morning sneezing?

MBBS
General Physician,
Morning sneezing is mainly because of allergy. The most common is pollen allergy. Pollens are released to air by plants during early morning. If your body is allergic to these pollens then you'll get morning sneezing. However, there are many other reasons which need to be eliminated before suggesting any treatment. For further assistance you can concern me privately.Have a great day.

I am male 19 year old and I am tense with ringing in my ears!(tinnitus)can you help me out with this! also some methods to stay positive ?

MS , MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Ringing in the ears could be because of many reasons including ear wax, sensorineural deafness, rarely a tumor of the nerve. It could be even giving too much attention to the sound which is normally present due to cochlear microphonics and gets accentuated because of being too conscious about it.

Know Everything About Sinusitis Surgery

MBBS, MS - ENT

Know Everything About Sinusitis Surgery

What is a Sinusitis Surgery?

The traditional sinus surgery involves the removal of the diseased sinus tissue with improvements in the drainage channels by creating a definite pathway so as to drain out the infection from the cavities.

Usually, endoscopic techniques allow for better access and visualization as compared to making external incisions. This furthers the recovery process from this sort of a surgery.

Unlike other surgeries, a sinusitis surgery aims at re-routing the infected sinus pathways in addition to clearing the damage pathways. Post-operative care is as important as the surgery itself. In fact, insufficient follow-up and poor post-op care are two of the most important reasons behind the failure of this surgery.

Few essential things you need to know before such a surgery:

  1. Balloon Sinuplasty is a comparatively newer method to treat and expand the natural drainage mechanisms of one’s sinus passages.
  2. The patient should refrain from eating or drinking any beverage at least eight hours prior to the surgery.
  3. Once the surgery is carried out, the patient can go home and rest with his/her head elevated for faster recovery. Also, applying a towel wrapped in ice can also help stop the bleeding that might so commonly occur.
  4. Recovery from the surgery can take about 5 days and the patient should not carry out any strenuous activity until cleared by the surgeon.
  5. Post-operative care is of the essence in this sort of a surgery.
  6. Follow up with the doctor if you happen to have fever that refuses to subside even with medications, headaches that do not respond to medications or bleeding that doesn’t stop.
  7. Any swelling in and around the nose or fluid draining from the nose should not be left ignored and untreated.
  8. Identify and stay away from allergens, moisturize your nose frequently with the help of nose moisturizers and avoid the common cold and flu.

Surgery choices

Endoscopic surgery is preferred over traditional surgery for most cases of chronic sinusitis that require surgery. It is less invasive, less expensive, and has a lower rate of complications.

  1. Endoscopic surgery may be done to remove small amounts of bone or other material blocking the sinus openings or to remove growths (polyps). Normally, a thin, lighted tool called an endoscope is inserted through the nose so the doctor can see and remove whatever is blocking the sinuses.
  2. Sinus surgery may be done when complications of sinusitis, such as the development of pus in a sinus, infection of the facial bones, or brain abscess have occurred. In this type of surgery, the doctor makes an opening into the sinus from inside the mouth or through the skin of the face.

What are the complications and risks?

  • Recurrence of polyps or other nasal problems.
  • Excessive bleeding post-surgery.
  • Chronic drainage from the nasal cavities, crusting of one’s nose and excessive dryness.
  • Further aggressive surgery might be required.
  • Damage to one’s eyes.
  • Damage to one’s skull, including drainage of spinal fluid.
  • Facial or upper teeth numbness.
  • Polyps which result in nasal obstruction.

Here are some suggestions for taking care of your nose and sinuses after surgery:

  1. Keep your head elevated to help reduce bleeding and swelling after your operation. The first night after surgery, elevate your head with extra pillows or sleep in a recliner.
  2. If you have packing material and splints in your nose, make sure they stay in place. If the packing gets clogged, breathe through your mouth. Do not remove the packing or splints.
  3. Some bleeding is normal for 2 to 3 days after your operation. If you think you are bleeding a lot, be sure to call your doctor.
  4. Don’t blow your nose for at least a week after surgery. Don’t do any heavy lifting, straining, or strenuous exercise. This increases the likelihood of bleeding in your nose.
  5. If you have to sneeze, try doing it with your mouth open.
  6. Don’t take aspirin. It slows clotting and increases bleeding.

Sir I am suffering from nose inhaling problem since last 10 years one operation has been done but no results please give me an solution.

DORL, MBBS

Weather change and due to anatomical variation of the nose which leads to change in the aerodynamics of the nose hence leads to watery nose this most of the time is over snsitivity on nose to outer environment, and we consider this as allergy all the time. Sinus is a normal roomy structure around nasal cavity its infection called sinusitis, if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusits and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusiits. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopically. Everything is explained in this, I hope this will benefit you.

There are several things you can do to prevent a cold. they are all easy. -Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. -Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. -Get plenty of rest/sleep.staying at home will keep you from spreading germs.Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. -Drink plenty of fluids(veg/tomato soups, dal water/coconut water/herbal tea etc), and eat nutritious food(like sprouts/boiled eggs without yolk with milk). Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can impair your sleep -Treatment:A cold usually lasts for a week or two. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn't need medical treatment. -Complications like infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. -Gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation. -Tablet nasorest-p once/twice daily may ease breathing. -Do steam inhalation once or twice daily

But my left ear not ok and cannot hear also. Whether after from surgery can I hear? please is it is successful? please guide the expert opinion. Thanks

MS - ENT, DNB (ENT)

An ear drum perforation in an only hearing ear has to be handled very carefully. It is generally recommended that an only hearing ear be treated with medicines. And if the ear has a central perforation and remains dry for most of the time, medical management should be tried. If operated due to some reason - persistent discharge, development of cholesteatoma etc, it should only be done by the most experienced surgeon. Regards.
