I got many failures in my life. Now, I don't feel to do much in my life. However I want to become very successful in my life. I hear noises of people who has given me taunts in the past. What should I do? I am under psychiatrist treatment since 2013.

Dear Lybrate user, Anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. These feelings may cause physical symptoms, such as a racing heart and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. Anxiety medicines alone cannot cure anxiety disorders mainly because medicines do not alter behavior. Behavior change and Continuous practice of the changed behavior cure anxiety. I suggest anxiety education, progressive counseling and progressive psychotherapy. I assure you complete cure. I need to know more about your anxiety so that I will be able to diagnose it properly and provide you tips to overcome and manage your anxiety. Take care.

Prolonged use can cause addiction. Avoid sudden stopping. Taper the dose about half every 15 days.

Please suggest better medicine Is it cure ocd Is there any ocd case cure Is it possible to cure ocd by medicine?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Yes, ocd is curable if you combine medication with therapy. Meet with a counselor first and then if that person recommends a psychiatrist to deal with this issue, do visit one as soon as possible. Please take your parents with you to determine the possible developmental issues that may have contributed to this condition. This is a fear-based condition and for some reason you have not been dealing with this childhood fear which has now developed unto these repetitive adaptations to seem to need it for normal functioning. The behavior will then become based on magical thinking and certain rituals will become necessary to do normal things making you believe that either the frequency or the ritual is important to its success. This of course is a fallacy but there will come a time that even if told the truth, your belief will defy any logic and you will continue behaving like that even if it cripples you in your daily routines. It only appears as though some other force is behind these behaviors and that you are compelled to act in this fashion. That is obviously not true but no one can convince you of anything different. The obsession is a repeating thought pattern with no meaningful outcome; and the compulsiveness is the need to act on those obsessions also in a repeated behavior pattern as though you just cannot help yourself. This is all driven by fear and when you are frustrated with it, you will escalate anger over it. Doubt, insecurity, uncertainty, and lack of firm memory will all plague you and increase stress. There are certain behavioral techniques to be implemented and if they work you may get out of this condition rather easily. If that does not work as desired, then medication has to be introduced, and in combination with counseling much work can be achieved.

You cannot get rid of all the problems but the stress from these can be reduced. Please get in touch with a psychologist.

My brother in law is an alcoholic. On holidays he consumes alcohol morning as well as evening and takes in huge quantities. After drinking he creates problems in the house. Any amount of advice only fall on deaf ears as he is not willing to listen any one. That only increases his consumption. I want to know any safe medicine that can be administered along with food without patients knowledge that can create a dirt of aversion towards alcohol. Presently his health is good outwardly.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
You will definitely need medical assistance to get rid of the habit. Trying to wean it out slowly does not help and in the long term may not be productive. You might consult a deaddiction centre - where under medical supervision you can undergo a detoxification program as well as Behavior counselling. Detoxification programmes help a person who is dependent on alcohol to cease use in a way that minimizes the symptoms of withdrawal and the risk of complications, sometimes using a prescribed medication. Counselling and psychotherapy form integral parts of most forms of treatment. They aim at initiating and maintaining behavioural and lifestyle changes, and help to control urges to use alcohol. It uses a variety of methodologies and techniques, including motivational interventions, cognitive-behavioral approaches (social skills training, stress management, anger management), relapse prevention, provision of incentives, community reinforcement therapies I hope this helps.
