5 ways to boost bone strength early.

Monitor your diet. Get enough calcium and vitamin D, ideally through the foods you eat. Although dairy products may be the richest sources of calcium, a growing number of foods, such as orange juice, are calcium?fortified. Fruits, vegetables and grains provide other minerals crucial to bone health, such as magnesium and phosphorus.
Maintain a reasonable weight. This is particularly important for women. Menstrual periods often stop in women who are underweight ? due to a poor diet or excessive exercise ? and that usually means that estrogen levels are too low to support bone growth.
Don?t smoke, and limit alcohol intake. Smoking and too much alcohol both decrease bone mass.
Make sure your workouts include weight?bearing exercises. Regular weight?bearing exercise like walking, dancing, or step aerobics can protect your bones. Also include strength training as part of your exercise routine.
Talk with your doctor about your risk factors. Certain medical conditions (like celiac disease) and some medications (steroids and others) can increase the chances that you will develop osteoporosis. It?s important to talk with your doctor privately.

Hello you may have plantar fasciitis. Do cold fomentation to the sore area for 20 minutes three or four times a day. Learn stretching exercises from physiotherapist. Thanks.

I have swelling in my right hand and my last two fingers pain when I fold my hands. I have internal pain in my hands. I have got done my x_ray & all reports but all reports are normally. It looks like rheumatoid arthritis, What did the ortho dr say(diagnosis) For the time being, you can try local pain killer gel like relaxyl / omnigel, and use some homeo medicine.Remember it takes long time for complete cure.

Supplements must and do stretching exercise of both limbs and tk muscle relaxant medicine. Avoid toward bending and computer work, long sitting. Avoid long standing and keep your leg straight during sitting time.

Hello Mr. Lybrate-user, dead lifts are usually not recommended for any pre-existing spinal condition. This exercise puts abnormal stress on your thoracolumbar spine. However you should do back and core strengthening exercises like pilates. Regards.

Avoid exercising the muscles around the hernia. For instance, if you have an abdominal hernia, don't do crunches. This could make your hernia worse or even cause more hernias to break through the tissue. Exerting and straining yourself to lift heavy weights should be completely avoided. Avoid exercise that stretches or pulls abdominal muscles for at least two weeks, then begin with light resistance training. You can resume core strength training after about four weeks.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise. Hamstring stretching towel hamstring stretch lie on the back, supporting the thigh with the hand or with a towel wrapped around it. Slowly straighten the knee until a stretch is felt in the back of the thigh, trying to get the bottom of the foot to face the ceiling, one leg at a time. Hold the position initially for 10 seconds, and gradually work up to 20 to 30 seconds. Seated hamstring stretch while sitting at the edge of a chair, straighten one leg in front of the body with the heel on the floor. Then, sit up straight and try pushing the navel towards the thigh without leaning the trunk of the body forwards. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds repeat 3 times for each leg.

Back pain may be due to strain, sprain, weather change etc. *Avoid bending forward while working on lap top or for any other work. *Don’t sit continuously working on laptop etc. Get up periodically and move around. *Restrict bike driving as far as possible. *Don’t carry laptop or any load on your shoulder. Carrying very light loads equally with both hands is better *Sit straight so that back bone gets proper support. A dining chair is better than a laid back sofa. *You can use mustard oil for massage which is good in winter season for relieving pain. Eucalyptus oil is also good *Soft bed will not give proper support to your back bone. Hard bed with thin mattress and thin pillow is better. *Get yourself tested whether you have spondylitis problem. Homoeopathy has a good treatment for this without adverse effects. To start with, take Calc fluor 200--once daily in the morning for 6 days.

Hi, I am 32 yrs old male, weight 95 kg, height- 5.8 ft. Having pain in my legs & hands & fingers & toes. Hlab27 - positive, crp 23 (6). Ca- 9.1, cr.- 1.0 & uric acid: 7.0 sgpt-16. Hg- 11.7. Taking the medicines: patocid 40 (1 tab), sazo- 1 gram (2 tab). Daily, mext 15 mg (once in a week), newbona active (1 tab) femonia xt (1 tab) & fol-5 (1 tab) 5 days in week. How many days I have to continue these medicines. Is the disease curable with this medicines or some other treatment required. Waiting for your kind suggestions. Regards,

You have mentioned yourself as hla b27 positive which means that you are suffering from inflammatory arthritis most probably ankylosing spondylitis. It is a chronic inflammatory joint disease which has a genetic predisposition. Since this is a genetically linked disease hence as of now there is no permanent cure for it, but new intravenous medications are available which help in disease control. You need a very active lifestyle with intensive regular physical therapy, take adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation you also need to be in touch of a rheumatologist as it needs a long term supervised care. Dear Dharamraj, , Get a MRI done to pin point the cause and site of pain . Meanwhile go for Ayurveda's Panchkarma Therapy - We have many option for u - Kati Basti (Specialised Panchakarma procedure for Backpains), Localised Massgae with Herbal oils, Localised Medicated Steam, Pottali Massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. Dear Manish, You can get started with hot water fomentation. Take rest and once you are out of the severe pain you can get started with back and abdominal muscle strengthening exercises. Avoid forward bending exercises. If pain still stays go for investigations like MRI of back/LS spine. Do write to me if needed any further help.
