Hello With all its moisturizing action, aloe vera is one of the most effective skin soothing agents. When you rub the gel over an itchy spot, it helps reduce the skin irritation in that area and provides quick relief from itching. Just break a leaf from the plant, cut it lengthwise using a knife and using a spoon, scoop out the jelly-like substance inside. Apply a little of this gel to the itchy area and leave it on for a few minutes.

8 Remedies to Get Rid of Warts

MD - Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy
Dermatologist, Bhubaneswar
8 Remedies to Get Rid of Warts

Warts are benign growths on the skin. They are hard in nature and are caused due to virus infection. Warts usually infect the upper layer of the skin. This virus is generally passed through a cut in the skin or a damaged skin. If a person with a cut or a damaged skin comes in contact with another infected person, then the virus may spread rapidly. There are different kinds of warts depending on the areas they grow on.

Below mentioned are eight remedies to get rid of warts:

  1. Try to be hygienic: Warts may pass from one body part to another. So do not touch the infected parts of your skin several times. Make sure to wash your hands with clean water every time you touch the infected areas.
  2. Eat healthy: Make sure to eat healthy, exercise and sleep well as this will help you to develop a strong immune system. A strong immune system can help you to get rid of warts.
  3. Garlic: A paste made of garlic can be very useful for treating warts.
  4. Lemon juice: Lemon juice has great healing powers for treating warts. It contains vitamin C which can destroy the viruses causing warts.
  5. Using lukewarm water: Soaking the infected parts of your body in lukewarm water will soften the warts and help you to get rid of them too.
  6. Laser therapy: Laser therapy can also help you to get rid of warts. In some cases, it might require anesthesia.
  7. Oils: Applying essential oils on the affected areas can also prove to be very helpful. You can use oils like tea tree oil or bergamot oil.
  8. Acetic acid: Acetic acid can also help you to get rid of your warts, especially from the areas of your feet or hand.

Apart from the remedies mentioned above, you can also consider special surgeries for removing warts after consulting a dermatologist.

Common Prostate Problems Faced By Men!

Common Prostate Problems Faced By Men!

What menstrual problems are to women, prostate problems are to men. The prostate is a gland in the lower abdomen that aids in the production of semen. The prostate is walnut sized in a young man, but can get enlarged with age. As it grows bigger, it can cause a number of problems. These are commonly seen after a man celebrates his 50th birthday.

There are three common prostate problems faced by men. Some of the symptoms that can tell if a man has a prostate problem are:

1. Difficulty faced while urinating.
2. The urge to urinate frequently at night.
3. Constant feeling of a full bladder.
4. Pain while urinating.
5. Blood in urine.

Prostatitis

This can be defined as inflammation of the prostate gland. In most cases the cause of this inflammation is unknown. However, there are two types of prostatitis; bacterial and nonbacterial. While the former reacts well to antibiotics, the latter is more difficult to control. Symptoms of this disease vary from one person to the next. Some of the factors that could trigger this disease are:

1. Chemical irritants
2. Past bacterial infection
3. Dysfunctional pelvic floor muscles
4. Sexual abuse
5. Chronic anxiety

Enlarged prostate

As mentioned earlier, as men get older, the prostate gland tends to grow in size. This growth is benign, but can block the bladder neck and prostatic urethra. This can cause problems urinating and lead to acute urinary retention. This can be very painful. Inserting a catheter can provide temporary relief and help release stored urine. Chronic retention is much less common and is associated with high bladder pressure and can damage the kidneys.

Prostate cancer

Advancing age and family genetic history are said to be the main triggers of prostate cancer. This type of cancer can remain restricted to the prostate gland in its early stages but may spread to the other glands as the cancer advances. This can also cause the growth of secondary tumors in the bones.

The only way to correctly diagnose a prostate problem is with a thorough physical examination. This includes a digital rectal exam where the doctor will insert a gloved finger into your rectum to check the size of your prostate, a blood test, mid stream urine tests and ultrasounds. In some cases a biopsy of the prostate may also be required. Depending on the diagnosis, your doctor may prescribe antibiotics, surgery, radiotherapy or hormone therapy to manage your prostate. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult an urologist.

If there is no fever and no/mild itching , it could be prickly heat which should respond to powder. If there is itching, it could be allergic in nature for which anti allergic meds need to be taken. With fever can be viral.

Doctor, what are the cosmetics that can keep you from tanning your skin in very humid and harsh climate?

Doctor, what are the cosmetics that can keep you from tanning your skin in very humid and harsh climate?
Hi, just keep nourishing your skin daily by using good quality of cleanser, toner and mosituriser (as per your skin type) and apply a good sunscreen liberally on your face (with spf-30) 20-30 mins. Before going out. For removing tan: - mix two tablespoons of honey with a few drops of lemon juice and apply it on the affected area once or twice in a day. Apply the mixture for 10 minutes and wash it off with cold water. - prepare a paste adding equal quantity of milk powder, lemon juice, almond oil and honey. Apply it on affected portions and keep for at least 20 minutes. This can be prepared and stored for a week. - sugar is considered as the best cleansing agent. Apply a mixture of sugar and lemon juice on your face and wash it after 20 minutes. If you have dry skin, add a few drops of glycerine to the mixture. Mixture of gram flour, lime juice and curd to get a glowing skin. But one can use the mixture regularly to get rid of tanning. - fresh coconut water makes the skin soft and fair. Using it twice a day on hands and face can prove beneficial. - apply a mixture of rose water, cucumber juice and a dash of lemon juice once a day. Lemon juice helps reduce the tan while rose water and cucumber work as cooling agents. - buttermilk soothes and softens the skin. Make a pack by mixing a tablespoon of oats with buttermilk and apply it on your face or body to get rid of tan. Oats also help in exfoliating the skin so this mixture is extremely beneficial. Take homoeopathic medicine: sulphur 200/ 1 dose only/ once a week for a month (don't repeat it after that). Give your feedback.

My father had hemorrhoid surgery 45 days ago, since then he had pain and blood in stool. He was given various antibiotics and laxatives, sitz bath etc but they were not helping much. Finally someone recommended movicol. Since then his stool is soft and pain has reduced a bit but still it feels painful after bowel movements and while sitting etc. Also there is bleeding while bowel movements. His surgeon, after colonoscopy said since he had 5-6 nodes, both internal and external, so it is taking longer to heal after surgery. He recommended self dilation with size 4,5 and eventually 6 for a month so that anal canal looses out and stool does not rub much with walls, giving it time to heal. I want to know does dilation really help? He fear it would make scar bleed more due to forced stretching? Also how to get rid of pain, blood etc. He thinks initial part of his stool is hard which rubs off his anal walls, thus causing bleeding. Movicol makes rest of the stool soft but not initial part. My questions: 1: does filation help in increasing anal canal size or it makes wound worse? 2: how to make initial part of stool soft? 3: how to get rid of pain and bleeding? How long does it usually take in such cases? My dad is always sad and depressed due to this. Please help. Thanks.

Hi there ~ however, I believe you need to see a surgeon / proctologist for your problem. If the initial part of the stool is hard and rubs off the mucosa causing bleeding then it most likely is an anal fissure which is easily treated by an expert surgeon or a proctologist. Using enema to make initial part of the stool soft using per anal dulcolax may be useful, however you need to consult a surgeon for definitive treatment. The pain and bleeding will be better once a surgical procedure is performed.
