Sir on my face under eyes there is swelling from last six months it looks like puffiness m not taking any medication ...
Hello lybrate-user. Puffiness beneath the eyelids has various causes associated with it. (1) age related distribution of fat. With progressive time and age there occurs a re-distribution of a lot of body fat. This may lead to puffiness/ sagging/ bagginess of the lower eyelids. (2) excessive alcohol consumption has at times seen to be associated with puffiness of eyelids. (3) hypersensitivity/ allergy of the eyes may cause puffiness. It may be caused due to dust, pollen, insect bite, etc. (4) thyroid level fluctuation has at times been seen to be associated with puffiness of eyelids. (5) excessive obesity has been shown to be associated with puffiness of eyelids. (6) extreme condition such as orbital cellulitis: very rare. Also, it is usually associated with eye injury, surgery, systemic infection, etc. It is very less likely to be so in your case. (7) grave's disease: this has a tendency to be associated with thyroid disease (or other autoimmune conditions). It s also rare. It is associated with fatigue and weakness that progresses throughout the day. (8) allergy of the eyes. It may happen due to insect bite hypersensitivity, allergy to cosmetics, dust, food items, etc thus, it would be a good idea to identify in the category that you come into and then tackle the situation. The reason for this being that each cause would have a different pattern of treatment.

My eyes are paining since a few days , will it be due to the computer screen , dust in the environment.

My eyes are paining since a few days , will it be due to the computer screen , dust in the environment.
Hi, exposure to bright light or straining to see in dim light can also cause eye fatigue. One of the most common causes of eye fatigue is staring for long periods at digital devices such as: computer screens smartphones video games during sleep, the eyes are replenished with essential nutrients. Lack of sleep may result in persistent eye irritation. Prevention of eye fatigue usually eye fatigue can be prevented or reduced by making simple changes in your work habits or environment. Make changes to your computer screen, such as: place the screen 20-26 inches away from your eyes and a little below eye level. Regularly clean off dust and fingerprints from the screen. Smudges on the screen can reduce contrast and increase problems with glare and reflections. Choose screens that tilt and swivel. Consider using a glare filter over your screen. Make changes to your work environment, such as: change lighting to reduce glare and harsh reflections. Use an adjustable chair. Place a document holder next to your computer screen. Make changes to your work habits, such as: try the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, look away about 20 feet in front of you for 20 seconds. Post a note that says" blink" on the computer as a reminder. Take regular breaks from computer work. Take care of your eyes with these steps: apply a washcloth soaked in warm water to tired, dry eyes (with eyes closed). Use artificial tears to refresh your eyes when they feel dry. To help prevent dry eyes while working indoors, use an air cleaner to filter dust and a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Management: give sufficient rest to your eyes with proper sleep. Keep yourself hydrated with intake of 10-12 glasses of water in a day. Eat healthy especially vitamin a rich food (green vegetables, carrots, yellow fruits and vegetables) and avoid junk food. Hold tap water in your flexed palm, dip your one eye closer to the water level, shut and open your eyelids often. Do the same with your other eye. Repeat this whole process 1-2 times more in a day. Give your eyes proper rest. Can keep slices of cucumber or potato or used tea bags over the closed eyes for sometime. Medication: instill 2 drops of euphrasia eye drops in each eye twice daily.

I have eye problem as my eye usually showing painful as my eye size is small will you suggest me what to do?
Is that pain associated with redness, diminution of vision or any other symptoms? if yes then it's of infective origin. Else if none of these present and you are using /not using glasses in either case get your refraction done. May be the number might have changed. If your vision is normal, you have to go for orthoptic checkups which may be probable cause for asthenopic symptoms.

Just like with asthma, which is also allergic reaction in the lungs, your nose is also reacting to allergen in the environment. Your ent, skin or allergy specialist will keep this under control. It is true you will require some simple medicines in some seasons. You should not get alarmed by this minor problem.

Since a psychiatrist has already diagnosed you as bipolar disorder, the information you are providing is not sufficient to either agree or disagree with what he has diagnosed. You need to have a second opinion if symptoms do not come to remission, since in bipolar in 6-8 weeks there is total remission with treatment.

Glaucoma: 2nd leading cause of blindness in the world

Phaco Development Program, Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology, DNB Ophtalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Mysore
Glaucoma: 2nd leading cause of blindness in the world
Glaucoma is a group of diseases that damage the eye's optic nerve and can result in vision loss and blindness. However, with early detection and treatment, you can often protect your eyes against serious vision loss.

At first, open-angle glaucoma has no symptoms. It causes no pain. Vision stays normal. Glaucoma can develop in one or both eyes. Without treatment, people with glaucoma will slowly lose their peripheral (side) vision. As glaucoma remains untreated, people may miss objects to the side and out of the corner of their eye. They seem to be looking through a tunnel. Over time, straight-ahead (central) vision may decrease until no vision remains.

There is no cure for glaucoma. Vision lost from the disease cannot be restored.

Immediate treatment for early-stage, open-angle glaucoma can delay progression of the disease. That's why early diagnosis is very important. Glaucoma treatments include medicines, laser trabeculoplasty, conventional surgery, or a combination of any of these. While these treatments may save remaining vision, they do not improve sight already lost from glaucoma.

If you are being treated for glaucoma, be sure to take your glaucoma medicine every day. See your eye care professional regularly. You also can help protect the vision of family members and friends. Encourage them to have a comprehensive dilated eye exam at least once every two years. Remember that lowering eye pressure in the early stages of glaucoma slows progression of the disease and helps save vision.

How to get rid under eye bag. please suggest me best effective cream to get rid under eye bag to get rid fast.

MBBS, DNB (Ophthalmology), ROP
Ophthalmologist, Coimbatore
How to get rid under eye bag. please suggest me best effective cream to get rid under eye bag to get rid fast.
Bags under the eyes may be caused by a variety of reasons including age, fluid retention, consumption of salty food, allergies, lack of sleep, stress. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity due to the loss or reduction of collagen production which provides support to the tissue and muscle supporting the eyelid. The skin then sags and the fat that is normally confined to the orbit moves down. Similarly, lack of sleep, stress and a work routine that demands constantly staring at a computer screen, can all lead to dark circles and bags under the eyes. This makes us look tired and less than appealing. Also, the space below your eyes can accumulate fluid, making the under-eye area appear puffy or swollen. Treatment modalities include blepharoplasty and fat grafting. Also hydrate your body, drink as much water as possible. Yes, it seems counter-intuitive when you are retaining water, but hydrating reduces puffiness. So drink a glass of water whenever you notice your eyes getting a little droopy. Consult a oculoplastic surgeon for the same. Regards

While working on laptop my eyes start burning and this is usually happening, please help.
Prolonged working on laptop/TV can cause computer vision syndrome. Computer vision syndrome is a condition resulting from focusing the eyes on a computer or other display device for, uninterrupted periods of time. Some symptoms of cvs include headaches, blurred vision, neck pain, redness in the eyes, fatigue, eye strain, dry eyes, irritated eyes. These symptoms can be further aggravated by improper lighting conditions. Measures to reduce this include work under proper light. r. Blink a lot. Cold compresses and use good lubricating eyedrop. I would advise you to maintain good posture while working on computer. Keep your back n neck straight and in perfect alignment and also buy a chair which can support your back when you work on computer.
