Maine apni wife k period aane k teen din pehle uske sath intercourse kiya tha and intercouse k 4 din baad uska period aa gya, to kya wo pregnant ho skti hai?

MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS

Dear lybrate-user having intercourse three days before periods though rare but can cause pregnancy. But if she had a proper period around her expected date then chances of pregnancy are minimal.

First important thing is 15 days after drugs taken for MTP, ultrasonography should be done to confirm completion of abortion. If pain is consistant or severe meet Gynecologist.

My friend just delivered a baby around 54 days ago and still getting vaginal bleeding. It stopped at around 34 days and was gone for like 14 days. Now some spotting started again at around 50th day after delivery of her child. So, Is there anything to worry about or its just normal?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS, FNB Reproductive Medicine, MRCOG
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
normally post delivery it takes minimum 6 weeks for body to be back to normal but periods won't come or are irregular if she is breast feeding baby regularly in her case may be she is not feeding regularly. that may be reason of intermittent bleeding.

Preferably pain killers (antispasmodics have to be avoided as they will interfere with the abortive process unless pain is very severe and intolerable. You can take antibiotics for 5 days. Also consult your gynaec after 14 days to ensure that the process is complete. Asonography scan will be useful.

Day 7-18 of cycle is fertile period when risk of pregnancy is most if sex happens. So avoid sex in these days. Hwever chance ovulation may smtimes happen before/ after, thus this method has high failure rate too.
