10-16 days after period strt date is best for conceiving. Specially ovalution day.in market ovalution kit is available to know exact day. But usually if your periods are regula then mid of periods i.e 14th day is highly probable day for egg to form. Egg life is 24-48 hr and sperm life is 5 days. So if sperm is alive it can fertilize egg. Apart from this there arr many factors which impact pregnancy. Consult to discuss in details.

Calorie Count of Your Favourite Indian Dishes

Calorie Count of Your Favourite Indian Dishes

Indians have always been known for their passion of food, which is usually rich and creamy. With the recent calorie consciousness setting in, the Indian foods are also blamed for being rich in calories. It is therefore time to take a step back and watch the calories that you are packing with each meal.

Listed below are some common Indian foods, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, and their corresponding caloric value. The next time you plan your meal, take a conscious decision based on your overall health. This does not mean you should not relish these exotic dishes. Make sure if you have had a ghee-laden gaajar ka halwa, make sure to burn that extra calories by extending your gym time.

  1. Chicken curry: This popular dish with curry, chicken, and other spices like ginger, saffron and other spices contain about 600 kcal for a serving.
  2. Daal: About 300 g of cooked dal has about 350 kcal. The good news with daal is that gives the maximum amount of proteins, especially for non-meat eaters.
  3. Biryani: A bowl of vegetable biryani contains about 550 kcal while chicken biryani gives about 800 kcal. Again, this depends on the additional ingredients like the amount of ghee or oil used and other ingredients.
  4. Korma: While the chicken korma gives up to 900 kcal, a bowl of vegetable curry gives about 350 kcal.
  5. Samosas: A meat samosa has about 320 kcal, while a vegetable samosa has about 250 kcal.
  6. Chole bature: This fried food with big sized puris and chickpeas pack in about 450 kcal per serving.
  7. Pav bhaji: Another popular evening snack with fried bread and gravy, this has loads of butter applied to the bread and so it is not surprise that you add about 450 kcal with a plate of pav bhaji.
  8. Jalebi: This popular Indian sweet is made by deep-frying wheat-flour batter in circular shapes and soaking it in sugary syrup. Whether eaten hot or cold, it gives you about 460 kcal per serving. Add a spoonful of rich creamy rabdi to it and there would be another 150 kcal.
  9. Ras malai: This rich creamy sweet is extremely popular in Northern parts of India and provides about 250 kcal per serving
  10. Halwa: If loaded with ghee, a cupful of carrot halwa can give you about 250 kcal.Onion pakoras: This popular spicy snack contains deep fried gram flour and onions and packs in about 200 kcal when 3 pieces are eaten.

Now that you know how much calories some of your regular foods are carrying, make a mental note of all the foods you are eating on a daily basis, and make sure it does not cross about 2000 per day.

I got married 4 months ago. We are trying for kids since then. After missing my periods (which were very irregular) for 15 days I went to consult gynec. She told me that I have been suffering from PCOS. She prescribed me Yamini, ovacare and folic acid tablets. I have immense pressure for getting pregnant from my in-laws side. My question is will I get pregnant while taking above tablets.

Sexual Disorders - Types + Treatments

Sexual disorders are issues or complications which hamper your sex life. This can have unintended consequences such as depression and separation. Sexual disorders may be either physical or psychological; at present, there are treatments available for most sexual disorders.

Sexual disorders interfere with certain parts or the whole of the sexual response cycle (which consists of excitement, orgasm, plateau and resolution). This means that you will not be able to achieve satisfaction and contentment by engaging in a sexual activity.

The types of sexual disorders are-

  1. Disorders related to orgasm: These disorders are related to the inability to orgasm or climax.
  2. Desire disorders: Lack of desire to engage in sexual intercourse
  3. Arousal disorders: If afflicted with these disorders, you will find it very difficult to be aroused during a sexual activity.
  4. Pain related issues: These are disorders in which you experience pain during sexual intercourse.

The symptoms of sexual disorders are-

  1. You may be unable to orgasm.
  2. Tight muscles in the vagina, thus hampering sex.
  3. Dry vaginal tissues in the vagina leading to pain during sex.
  4. Inability to maintain or achieve erection.
  5. Premature ejaculation.

There are various treatments which are available to rectify sexual disorders. They are-

  1. Sex Therapy: You may consult a sex therapist who can provide counseling on the psychological aspects of sex. They can help you resolve those psychological factors which can act as a deterrent.
  2. Hormone Therapy: Women can undergo hormone therapy if the cause of sexual disorders is an imbalance in the hormones.
  3. Mechanical Devices: Various devices such as penile implants and vacuum devices can help overcome sexual disorders.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

How many month we can do sex in pregnancy and what precautions we should take doing sex this time.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- Your baby is well protected inside the womb and is not harmed by sexual intercourse. Sex can continue late into pregnancy with some adjustments and precautions. 1)Sexually transmitted diseases can be transmitted to your baby, so take any appropriate safe sex precautions. 2)Avoid oral sex that includes blowing into the vagina as this can cause in air embolism (a blockage of a blood vessel by an air bubble), which can be potentially fatal for both you and your unborn child. 3)Using a water soluble lubricant or a lubricated condom may make sex more comfortable if your vaginal tissues have become engorged and are very sensitive as well.

Hello, you need to control your hormonal levels and as you have pcos, you may have irregular cycles with delayed ovulation and often over weight, obesity. Weight reduction improves chances of ovulation and conception. However you may opt for an ovulation induction and timed intercourse protocol at your gynaecologist's office for initiating conception.
