Hi I want to know how much gap is required for pregnancy as I have lost my 7th month pregnancy in October 2015.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
You should avoid next pregnancy for 6 months from the last 7 month delivery. Chances of repeat abortion or pretem delivery increases if one becomes pregnant within 6 months of preterm delivery. Also if it was caused by any viral infection, then it will get cured automatically within 3 months time. Use contraception for 6 months. Best one to use are oral contraceptive pills. As you had preterm delivery it is better to put cervical stitch next time at 14 weeks of pregnancy to prevent another preterm delivery.

It's better if you use condoms during intercourse. Takin I pill is not safe everytime. It wil affect her cycles and chances of ectopic pregnancy are high and if you both r gonna hv regular intercourse let her have oc pills.

What should one do before she gets pregnant to ensure a healthy pregnancy for she and her baby?

MBBS
Doctor, Begusarai
What should one do before she gets pregnant to ensure a healthy pregnancy for she and her baby?
A typical pregnancy is nine months long, but to give your baby a healthy start, think of it as twelve months -- including the three months before you get pregnant. This means that when you start thinking about trying to conceive, you should:

See your doctor for a pre-pregnancy checkup. Don't forget to ask about things like family medical history, risk of birth defects, genetic conditions, and chronic illnesses. Discuss all the medications you take and make sure they're safe during pregnancy.

In addition to eating a healthy diet (lots of leafy greens, lean proteins, and fiber), boost your nutrients with a multivitamin specially formulated for pregnancy -- usually called a prenatal vitamin. It's particularly important to get sufficient folic acid before getting pregnant. This nutrient helps prevent birth defects like spina bifida; because many of these conditions arise very early in pregnancy, you need healthy levels of folic acid right from the start. Look for a multivitamin that contains 400 micrograms of folic acid. Ask your doctor or midwife to recommend a vitamin for you.

If you smoke, quit. Smoking poses a host of risks to a developing baby, including birth defects and low birth weight. It also doubles your risk of having an ectopic pregnancy. You may also find it more difficult to become pregnant in the first place if you smoke, as smoking is strongly linked with infertility in both women and men.

Get checked for hepatitis b and c, sexually transmitted infections, and hiv.

Get any health problems -- like diabetes and high blood pressure -- under control. If you are seriously overweight, talk to your doctor about how to maintain a healthy weight.

My stomach size is abruptly increase n I have also irregular brown discharge ?what should I do?
Hello- Irregular and sudden increase in stomach size in females along with discharge problems denotes swelling of underlying uterus. If swelling subside the stomach will come to its normal position. These symptoms arise due to excessive spicy and fast food intake, late night workouts and using pain killers during menses. Avoid these factors, massage abdomen with sesame oil in clockwise manner and start consuming turmeric milk in the breakfast, your problem will be solved.

Condition is called dysmenorrhea. Menstrual cramps are due to a hormone-like substance called prostaglandin that causes the uterine muscles to contract during menstruation. 1. Heat applying heat on the lower abdomen is the easiest way to control menstrual cramps. Heat helps relax the contracting muscles in the uterus. Place a heating pad over the lower part of your abdomen and lower back. You can even use a regular plastic bottle filled with hot water. Apply the heat until you feel more comfortable. Alternatively, soak a towel in water, wring out the excess water and then heat it in the microwave for one minute. Place it on the lower abdomen until the towel cools. Repeat every few minutes until the pain is gone. Even taking a hot shower may relieve pain and make you feel more relaxed. 2. Ginger ginger is a wonder herb that can effectively ease menstrual cramps. This herb plays a key role in lowering the levels of the pain-causing prostaglandins. It also helps fight fatigue associated with premenstrual syndrome and can make irregular periods regular. Grate a small piece of ginger and boil it in a cup of water for five minutes. Strain it and add a little honey and lemon juice. Drink this tea three times a day during your menstrual cycle. You can also add ginger in your food while cooking or suck on some ginger candies. If still your problem persists consult your nearest doctor. Consult me online on video consult.
