I am having difficulty in latching my baby for feeding. Please provide suggestions.

BHMS
Homeopath, Noida
For a good latch follow these steps Keep your baby close, supporting his neck but allowing his head to move. Your baby needs to start with his nose opposite your nipple and then come in chin first. Wait for your baby to open his mouth really wide, then take a big mouthful of breast. Make sure to keep fingers far from the nipple so you don't affect how the baby latches on. Aim the nipple toward the baby's upper lip/nose, not the middle of the mouth. You might need to rub the nipple across the top lip to get your baby to open his/her mouth. The baby's head should be tilted slightly back.

My daughter age 13 years is suffering from epilepsy from last about one year but it is diagnosed 6 months back. Is epilepsy fully curable and what medicine should we give to her?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
Unlike previously thought epilepsy is curable now with medications which have to be continued for a period of 3 to 5 years. Medications depend upon the type epilepsy. Consult a good pediatrician or a neurologist.

Hello, yes you can give him pcm syrup, required dose according to his age. if fever is uncontrollable even after medication, don't repeat the dose before time and do sponging. If required then consult a physician in person. Take care.

Appropriately thick homogenous food with added sugar / jaggery and ghee/butter/oil to make it energy dense should be given. Take cereal and pulses (?what you eat at your home) in 2: 1 ratio add ghee/butter/ oil, add vegetables make thick khichadi. You can take various pulses, sprout it, dry in sun and grind to make flour and make porridge from it, add sugar/ jaggery, oil/ ghee. Give milkshakes of various seasonal fruits. Mashed boiled fruits and veggies can be given. Give three meals and two snacks. Each time give 2-3 tsp of food. By 9-10 months start finely chopped and mashed food approx 1/2 bowl each time.
