Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana -- Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am suffering from Becker's Muscular Dystrophy. I heard that using stem cell therapies it's going to be possible to treat this. I working in a private firm had to sit 9-12 hours in the office.I have backache from last 6 months what to do and sometime I feel massive pain in my back just because of that could not even walk a single step.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to have any kind of persistent back pain, please elaborate your problem in detail as to your duration of pain and whether there is any pain radiating down in legs and any other symptoms like numbness, paraesthesia, weakness in legs etc do you feel fever, weight loss, loss of apetite etc if you have localized back pain, you can start with - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. Get back to me in case your symptoms do not get better in 2-3 weeks time. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hello sir, I am 35 years old. Height 5.4 around 72 kgs in weight. I was injured while working onboard a ship (fell down from metallic stairs on ship) about 8 years ago. I didn't take that much serious at that time as it was not causing much problem but condition become little bit difficult after 1 year later when I was not able to walk and climb or get down stairs and do feel as if my upper part of my body above waist is detached and falling down. So, I visited on of a orthopaedic doctor who advised for rest and few exercises. Which I have followed as per his instructions. After I undertook a mri scan which states" small broad based central protrusion of the l1-2 and l2-3 discs, indenting tje thecal sac and loss of lumbar lordosis" but my question is that sir even though it's been nearly 8 years I do sometimes feel stiffness in back, feel stiffness when I do stand up after get up from sleep while on belly and also not able to sit down for a longer duration which my work requires. When I am doing the exercises I do feel better if not I do feel some what pain which tends to be felt only for few couple of minutes later on it's normal again. So, sir I do hereby request you to help me to overcome this situation of mine.

It can be due to faulty posture, related to weak muscles, issues with intervertebral disc, narrowing of spinal canal, any bony instability besides many other, so accurate diagnosis is the key to proper management of the condition. But in your case there was an injury to your back region. Also tell me on a scale of 1-10 how severe is your back pain? is it also associated with any leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias (electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. Dear Sir/Maam My grandma is suffering from hip fracture. She is 76 years old. She is admitted in dispur hospital guwahati now. On being a biopsy test prescribed by doctor here she has been found with lungs cancer advance stage. Now doctors are not able to operate her fracture area due to her sugar and sodium imbalance. I can share the reports if you wish. She is in hospital for 10 days now. We are very confused what to do. Anaesthesia doctor says she may or may not survive at the operation theatre. Please help.

In such type of cases Patient is advised for skin traction bed rest for 3. Months along with physiotherapy. If bone not unite in such duration then it will goes to 4or5 or6 mths according to fracture healing. There are lots of patients which Are not operated due to lots of diseases but their fracture unite in 3_4monts. In such cases there is slight shortening of leg happen but can managed by modified footwear.

Hi . You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation.

Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).
