Its due to hormonal imbalance and side effects of tab these r home remedies try it sesame seeds are useful in regulating menstrual cycles as they help balance your hormones. They are loaded with lignans that help bind excess hormones. Plus, they contain essential fatty acids that promote optimal hormone production. Jaggery, too, helps regulate menstrual cycles due to its warming effects. 1. Dry roast a handful of sesame seeds. 2. Grind them along with one teaspoon of jaggery into a fine powder. 3. Take one teaspoon of this powder daily on an empty stomach in the luteal phase, or second half of your menstrual cycle (two weeks before your period starts), for a few months. Simply eating a piece of jaggery, also known as gur, will also help regulate menstruation. Note: do not use this remedy during your periods.

I have been diagnosed a diabetic since Aug last year. I was married for 12-15 days only and got divorced 4 years back. Since taking on the diabetes medication which is very low due to my initial stage of detection. My libido has gone down even though my mental urge for sex self indulgence or masturbation is quite frequent. My diet also got restricted due to my health condition and I can't touch on many food items. I quit smoking after being diagnosed a diabetic. The risk of health complications gave me the will to quit. My smoking history goes back to 14-15 years wen I smoked 8-10 cigarettes a day but reduced to 1-3 in recent couple of years before quitting. I even drink occasionally. Once every two weeks during weekend get together. Main question: My main concern recently after medication started for diabetes is that my sperm ejaculation volume has gone down. If I masturbate once in a week then its fine. Even though subsequently my strong erections or arousal don't result in a similar ejaculation volume. At times after 2-3 erections in as many days lead to my ejaculation almost drying up. Is diabetes and the daily medication, even though mild, the root cause of this fall in sperm ejaculation volume. I forgot to add I am quite regular at 30 min brisk walk 5 days a week since being diagnosed a diabetic. I'm aware of exercises n healthy diet being key to a sound sexual health. I keep reading very often on the topic. Also will meditation with few yoga exercises help me. I stay with family and visiting a doc for any sexual treatment will raise a lot of questions as I'm still a bachelor and they are planning my marriage soon. Yes visiting a sexologist or a counselor with wife is fine n accepted everywhere. Kindly advice.

Thanks for the detailed case history. Masturbating once in week is not a offense. One of the complication of diabetes is, it reduces the sexual power, and even some times your stress level/ and history heavy smoking also matters with that. What you can do is get your sperm count tested in any lab, skip masturbations for minimum 3 days prior to the test. No need of hesitation regarding that, no need of prescription also, just tell them you want to do sperm count test. Then if anything wrong in report you can get it sorted out with medicines.

Laser Hair Removal - Can They Cause Cancer?

MD - Dermatology, MBBS
Dermatologist, Lucknow
Laser Hair Removal - Can They Cause Cancer?

Lasers are being used to remove unwanted hair, resurface the skin to remove scars, wrinkles and boost collagen. But are they safe? This is the question that plays on numerous minds. Let’s try to answer this question here.

First, let’s look at what lasers are. They are basically radiation, but of a safe variety. Laser therapy uses non-ionizing radiation to produce a fine laser beam which in laser hair removal is used to kill the hair follicle. This therapy is used to remove tattoos, plump up the skin and is also used in dental treatments, treatment for varicose veins, skin and eye surgery and as a treatment for skin cancer.

The type of radiation coming out from lasers is sometimes called non-ionising radiation. This is different from ionising radiation from nuclear sources and X-rays which are carcinogenic or cancer-causing. In terms of cancer risk, X-rays and gamma rays are the most dangerous and are known as high-frequency ionising radiation. Yet, X-rays are used even today to take pictures of our bones.

What is important is that when this kind of ionising radiation passes through our bodies, it can cause direct damage to our cell’s DNA and can lead to cancer later on. This doesn’t happen when lasers pass through the layers of our skin. The US Food and Drug Administration, FDA states that the light energy from these lasers does not penetrate deep into the skin. The laser beam remains superficially at the level of the skin and these lasers don’t cause DNA damage and DNA mutations, which are changes in DNA, linked to cancer.

  • The pulse of light energy used in laser hair removal treatments, for example, are only designed to zap and destroy hair follicles. A few women have concerns about using these lasers for getting a hair free bikini line around their reproductive organs, but experts suggest that there is no risk for cancer.
  • Experts also clarify that the light from lasers does not go beyond the hair follicle to the internal organs so fertility is also not affected. There is some redness and scarring in treated areas after laser therapy which can easily be treated by using stuff like cold milk, icing and gels.
  • Lasers are also said to be safe because laser therapy does not use the same ultraviolet wavelengths which is found in sunlight - UVA and UVB, both of these are known to damage the DNA in cells, causing skin cancer.
  • Having said all this, it is incumbent upon us to deliver a warning. Since the long-term risk of cancer due to lasers has not been studied so far, it would be prudent to say that those with a family history of skin cancers should stay away from cosmetic laser procedures for their own safety. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Dermatologist.

I have obsessive compulsive disorder who will treat it better psychiatrist or psychologist?

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Psychiatrist. It is like asking who will treat fracture better Orthopedician or physiotherapist, one is a medical doctor the other aids in therapy. Get diagnosed and treated by a psychiatrist, if behavioural therapy is needed he will refer you to a clinical psychologist. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common mental health problem. Symptoms typically include recurring thoughts and repetitive actions in response to the recurring thoughts. A common example is recurring thoughts about germs and dirt, with a need to wash your hands repeatedly to "clean off the germs" However, there are many other examples like sexual thoughts, counting, checking, orderliness, etc. The usual treatments are cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant medicine, or both. Treatment often works well to reduce the symptoms and distress of OCD greatly. Consult a psychiatrist. All the best.
