Dear lybrate user, if there is pain for more than 2 months, it is labelled as chronic. I'm sure you must have taken medication & physio either after advise from doctor or otherwise also & still you are having pain. Do no worry, this is generally seen in india due to improper guidance to patients. My advise would be to get yourself examined by either of 2 specialist (orthopedician trained in spine or interventional pain specialist). They should be able to put the diagnosis correctly & advise you accordingly for conservative treatment or some intervention depending on source of problem. Hope this will guide.

Hello lybrate-user, This is a classic knee pain problem been observed in women due to various reasons. It clould be due to low levels of calcium, hormonal changes in the body, post menopause effect in balance of hormones mainly estrogen and other degenerative changes. To start with, you can ask your mother to do some exercises which might be helpful to decrease her knee pain, 1. Apply ice pack on the knee for 15 mins with her legs elevated upto 45 degrees (use 2-3 pillows) 2. Push knee down while sitting or lying in the bed, hold for 5 seconds and relax, do 10 times 3. Avoid sitting cross legged for certaiin days until pain goes down 4. Make her sit on a high raise bed and ask her to move her knee in circles like a pendulum, this will open the joint space in the knee and allow better range and movement for daily activities. Do this 20-25 times anticlockwise and clockwise, also back and forth ** Take regular medicines on time ** Drink milk and eat calcium rich food items. Further questions? Please ask me again, Thank you,

Fibromyalgia - Ways It Can Be Managed!

Fibromyalgia - Ways It Can Be Managed!

Fibromyalgia is a condition characterised by extreme muscle pain that is followed by weakness, fatigue and issue with the state of mind. It is believed that fibromyalgia causes painful sensations by affecting the way your mind forms pain signals.

Indications now and then start after a physical injury, surgery, disease or critical mental anxiety. In different cases, side effects progressively show after some time with no single occasion that triggers it.

Here are some coping methods you can use to help yourself live well with fibromyalgia:

  1. Minimize stress and tension in your life. Stress may play an essential part in activating fibromyalgia side effects and its symptoms. Many individuals with fibromyalgia tend to feel on the edge, anxious, and inactive around the time when the side effects fibromyalgia flare up.

  2. Exclude yourself from unpleasant circumstances. People tend to amplify issues, making them appear to be far more prominent than they are. When you think of something to be a last chance situation, despite the fact that in reality, it is not, your body responds as though you are at risk. Work at treating your feelings as problems come by.

  3. Make worksite adjustments. To continue working full-time, you should stay rationally and physically ready to handle your employment obligations. To keep away from stress and tension, you may need to give additional time during the day to complete your personal needs and sort out your problems. Converse with your manager and work out a timetable that allows you to manage your time.

  4. Coordination. Coordination is important with an unending condition like fibromyalgia. Transparent conversations diminish the problems amongst you and your companion, family, friends and colleagues.

  5. Figure out how to say no. Failing to say no to excessively numerous requests will make you overburdened. That will add to your anxiety level. To help yourself say ‘no’ to a convincing companion, consider the circumstance before you reply and also think about the time you will be saving.

  6. Keep a diary. Writing in a diary consistently can turn into a great channel for analyzing yourself and your situation. A few people can also figure out when their fibromyalgia symptoms started. That can help them see how and when the symptoms began.

  7. Take a hot shower. Take a hot shower, a hot tub bath, or a steam bath. To begin with, it will help you to unwind the muscles that are tense. It will also decrease the pain and make your muscles more flexible and effortless to move.

  8. Exercise frequently. As per physiotherapists, exercising routinely is vital to get rid of fibromyalgia. In light of the pain, delicate muscles, continuous weakness, and stiffness felt by individuals with fibromyalgia, many have turned out to be physically unfit. Hence, all of the above-mentioned treatments are very important in order to stay fit.

If you want to relieve any lower back tension, Kati Basti is for you. This specialized therapy relieves and nourishes the lower back using herbal oils or ghee. After a gentle Ayurvedic oil therapy on the lower back, specially prepared warm herbal oil is poured over the lumbo sacral area and retained inside a dam made out of dough. The hot medicated oils helps melt lower spine rigidity and strengthen your bone tissue.

Benefits of Kati Basti

Hi = relax and stay positive. = increase fluid intake. = eat seasonal fruits for natural vitamins = do streching of hamstring, quadriceps, and calf muscles. = if you are overweight, reduce weight by cycling or swimming as it gives low impact on joints. = do check your calcium and vit. D = apply moist heat pad to affected joint and muscles. Best wishes.

I am 28 years old and I have arthritis in my right knee. What should I do for cure?

I am 28 years old and I have arthritis in my right knee. What should I do for cure?
Physical activity is essential for people with osteoarthritis Exercise programs should include both aerobic exercise—like walking, swimming, or biking—and strengthening exercises, such as isometric and isotonic exercises. Please see a Physiotherapist who can help you work out a program suitable for you. You could try a warm bath, or place a heat pack or hot water bottle over the painful area for 15 minutes. Cold numbs the painful area and reduces swelling. Applying cold treatments, such as ice packs, to the painful area for 15 minutes may be especially useful for hot, swollen joints, such as during a'flare' You can repeat heat or cold treatments throughout the day. Make sure the temperature of your skin has returned to normal before re-applying, to prevent any tissue damage.
