What are the precautions that we have to take in summer to be safe from sunstroke.

MBBS
Internal Medicine Specialist, Kendujhar
What are the precautions that we have to take in summer to be safe from sunstroke.
Hello, Thanks for your query on Lybrate "As" per your clinical history is concerned please follow preventive steps like this - 1) Try to wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing. Wearing excess clothing or clothing that fits tightly won't allow your body to cool properly. 2) Protect against sunburn. Sunburn affects your body's ability to cool itself, so protect yourself outdoors with a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. Apply sunscreen generously, and reapply every two hours or more often if you're sweating. 3) Try to drink plenty of fluids. Staying hydrated will help your body sweat and maintain a normal body temperature. 4) Take extra precautions with certain medications. Be on the lookout for heat-related problems if you take medications that can affect your body's ability to stay hydrated and dissipate heat. 5) Never leave anyone in a parked car. This is a common cause of heat-related deaths in children. When parked in the sun, the temperature in your car can rise 20 degrees F (more than 6.7 C) in 10 minutes. It's not safe to leave a person in a parked car in warm or hot weather, even if the windows are cracked or the car is in shade. When your car is parked, keep it locked to prevent a child from getting inside. 6) Take it easy during the hottest parts of the day. If you can't avoid strenuous activity in hot weather, drink fluids and rest frequently in a cool spot. Try to schedule exercise or physical labor for cooler parts of the day, such as early morning or evening. 7) Limit time spent working or exercising in heat until you're conditioned to it. People who are not used to hot weather are especially susceptible to heat-related illness. It can take several weeks for your body to adjust to hot weather. 8) Be cautious if you're at increased risk. If you take medications or have a condition that increases your risk of heat-related problems, avoid the heat and act quickly if you notice symptoms of overheating. If you participate in a strenuous sporting event or activity in hot weather, make sure there are medical services available in case of a heat emergency. Hope that helps.

I am suffering from tight foreskin problems. Unable to pull back foreskin when erect.

BHMS
Homeopath, Murshidabad
I am suffering from tight foreskin problems. Unable to pull back foreskin when erect.
Dear lybrate user, you may be suffering from a clinical condition called phimosis. The most conventional method to get rid of it is surgery. However, if you are unwilling to undergo surgery then you can try the following process at home. 1) buy any local anaesthetic gel (e. G. Lidocaine, lignocaine, xylocaine) from allopathic retail shop. 2) apply a little amount of that anaesthetic gel at the lower part of the prepuce of penis where the foreskin remains attached. 3) after application of the gel, retract the foreskin backwards as far as you can. Due to the anaesthetic property of the gel you will be able to retract the foreskin backwards to some extent more than you can do in normal condition. 4) release the foreskin when you feel pain 5) again repeat the same process. Do it continuously for at least 30 minutes in a day. Within a month you will feel that your foreskin has become loose.

I'm 27 years old. Off late I have been experiencing loss in erection during sex. The erection is weak. Not as strong as before. Please help.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
I'm 27 years old. Off late I have been experiencing loss in erection during sex. The erection is weak. Not as strong ...
Hello- Weak erections serve as warning signs of worse problems ahead. Think of a weak erection as an early indicator of developing severe impotence. Men who suffer from weak erections can still gain an erection; they just cannot hold it for long. Fortunately you can recover with the help of medications and schedule modification. Herbs improves the adrenal glands damaged by age, poor diet, drugs or excessive masturbation and provides protection to the organs from oxidative damage, which in turn improves the erection permanently.

BHMS
Homeopath, Puri
Smoking is the cause for developing sputum and all the problems of your father that you mentioned. It will be wise to quit smoking completely to be healthy. And yes you can give some Homeopathic medicines like Tabaccum-200 morning and Nux vomica-200 evening to reduce the cigarette cravings. Also give Lobellia inf-Q.(10 drops with some water after meals 2 times daily for a month)
