I am getting wisdom tooth which is erupted but 1/4th part of tooth is covered with gum tissue and it's painting alot. One Doctor suggested for removal of tissue while the other suggested to extract the tooth. I am suffering from its pain in the jaw neck ear n headache. I couldn't eat or drink easily. Pls advice me what to do to get relief. With pain killer I am getting only temporary relief. please do advise me.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Wisdom teeth can erupt anywhere between the age of 17 years and the mid-20s. It is usually accompanied by pain, sensitivity, and discomfort in chewing food. The pain also may radiate to head, neck and ear. For transient relief, you can go for pain killers and any antibacterial mouthwash, to keep the area clean, which may be difficult to clean otherwise with a toothbrush. Permanent treatment usually involves either removal of the gum tissue covering the wisdom tooth (if it is present in your case), or extraction of the tooth. Extraction will not cause you any problem with eating food, and it doesn’t need to be replaced, unlike other teeth.

A bad smell has been coming from my mouth every time. What is the remedy for that?

Advanced Aesthetics, BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Hi, there are various reasons of bad breath, like impurities in blood, inefficient digestive system, dry mouth (lack of saliva production), gum disease, cavities, plaque and tartar formation around teeth and gums, kind of diet, improper brushing / cleaning of mouth etc. I would advise you to get a thorough physical and dental examination to rule out the cause of bad breath and to solve it permanently.

Sir, my front teeth are not properly attached, they are back and forth with respect to each other (by birth as I think) and they are yellowish coloured. I brush it two times a day but it does not disappearing and my jaws are perfect and I have no disease of teeth. I asked this question because I am going in defence line through NDA. Thats why it is very necessary to have every body part perfect. So is there any solution for this sir? Pls tell me.

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Kolkata
Irregularly positioned teeth or crowding of teeth as it is called, can cause difficulty in properly brushing the teeth and maintaining oral hygiene as the brush is unable to reach through. You need an orthodontic correction of the crowded teeth or braces as it is more commonly known, after which it will be easier for you to clean your teeth.

A host of soft foods like dairy products, soft breads, softer grains, sea food and soft meat, soft cooked vegetables and many more are available in the market which should be consumed especially when one is taking orthodontic treatment since they are very easy to eat.

During my sixth std a cyst was developed at my lateral incisor because there is a delay in permanent teeth of so doctor removed my teeth by performing surgery. Now I want to rectify that gap .some one is saying to remove all my incisors and clipped and the other is saying to have zirconium teeth by decreasing the size of adjacent teeth. Do in future there is a possibility of any advanced technology or alternative without effecting other teeth other than screwing. My age 20.

MDS Pedodontics
Dentist, Mangalore
Hi satish.. Implants are advanced tooth replacement option that is available for us today.. In this procedure adjacent tooth is not altered.. A small screw will be placed in the bone which will mimic the natural tooth( sounds scary but its a simple procedure😊)

Certified Implantologist, BDS

You need to visit your dentist as these are chronic problems. he would suggest you further treatment as Deep Cleaning & Flap based on the clinical & Radiological Assessment. Also he could guide you about the Outcome. But you have to be patient with the treatment as it may require multiple sittings over long period

Hi, I am under orthodontic treatment. I think due to that I am getting frequent bleeding. I am not knowing exact location of the bleeding but morning when I get up, getting blood from mouth. I also doubt whether it is due to this orthodontics treatment or some other. Please give some solution. I am afraid that I will get blood loss-anemia. as I am already anemic.

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
The bleeding gums are due to accumulation of food debris, which is a result of inadequate maintenance of oral hygiene. I suggest that you get thorough professional cleaning/scaling done from a dentist, and use antibacterial mouthwashes thereafter. Following all these measures will solve your problem. Hope that helps.

I want to put new teeth. What is safe and painless method. Is root canal is painful. Pls gave answer soon. Is there any method to make root canal painless. I am very worried.

MFDS RCPS (Glasgow), MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user there are several options for the replacement of missing teeth. These include removable dentures, fixed bridges, and dental implants. Each has its advantages, as well as potential problems. You can discuss all your options depending upon your situation with your dentist and select the one that seems most appropriate to you. As for root canal treatment, it is usually quite safe and effective in dealing with deeply decayed, broken down and painful teeth. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic whenever some pain or discomfort is anticipated. So don't worry. You'll be fine. Hope this helps.

A wisdom tooth came up on the left side of my lower jaw about two weeks back. It was paining badly and I could hardly open my mouth. I was advised a painkiller tablet and liquid glycerine. After taking that, the pain subsided in about three days and I was able to open my mouth properly. But, all of a sudden, a few days after this, my saliva started tasting bad. I have kind of a metallic taste in my mouth constantly and when that taste is there, my saliva smells bad too. I kind of feel that this taste originates from the left side near the wisdom tooth. But I am not sure whether it's the upper or lower jaw. How do I overcome this condition? Please advise.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Wisdom teeth usually make their appearance between the ages of 17 and 21, though it's possible for them to push through earlier or later. Referred to as your" third molars, these four teeth begin to push through the skin like any other tooth, which can cause pain. However, wisdom teeth are much more likely to grow in at an incorrect angle – even sideways – causing impaction that can radiate this pain to the teeth in front of it.

It may be due to calculus or plaque deposition which affect the supporting structure of tooth u should use antibiotics and analgesics and maintainence of oral hygiene and go for scaling to maintain your gingival health.
