I am 61 yrs old. Having bypass before 3 month. Now I am facing more pain in my both shoulders.
Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Inform after 5 days.

For 160 cm height 54 kg weight is good. You don't need to go for weight loss regime. But the back pain and legs pain you are referring, could be due to nerve compression in lower spine region. You should get it examined by orthopaedic doctor or physiotherapist as early as possible to avoid any further inconvenience. Apply heating around the painful region of you back after that you can apply volini or omni gel. Do some lower back muscle strengthening exercises. Avoid forward bending, lifting weights. Sit straight and with support.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young and should not be having regular back pains but it's well known that our spine can have certain issues which leads to these painful attacks. From being just a simple muscular strain to a degenerative disc issue, it can be anything. My advise to you seeing your age and symptoms only localized to your lower back region with no radiculopathy or any other neurological symptoms, would be: - catch hold of a good physical therapist, start your back muscle training & strengthening, abdominal strengthening and general conditioning ex - take adequate care of your posture especially while at work, home etc - continue with your brisk walks initially for a less distance and increase it gradually. - you can take anti-inflammatory medication which suits you for 5-7 days and it should give you adequate pain relief. - x rays normally do not show anything unless there is a bony pathology in spine, hence to actually see whats wrong, it is better to get mri done, but maybe do your physical therapy well in pain free periods, and you may become better gradually. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. Stiffness might have developed due to weakness of the ligaments & inflamed cartilage. Specific knee exercises will also help ie. keeping ball underneath the knee and keep pressing it. That's the simple exercise which will help you to strengthen the knee

Stretches for Tight Muscles

mpt
Physiotherapist, Ahmedabad
Stretches for Tight Muscles

Being flexible is not always about doing splits or doing some random bending. It is about achieving a level of mobility that will not hold you back from doing whatever you are able to do. Most people think that stretching or flexing your muscles and body as the first method to defend you from pain. But if stretching and flexing can be done correctly, it can lengthen one's muscles and give one relief from pains and aches. Stretching is also done to increase the functional range of one's joints and muscles. There are various ways by which one can stretch their muscles. However, the question which looms over here is which is the correct procedure and which is the wrong one.

The Wrong Vs the Right Way: Before discussing about the correct way, let us talk about the various wrong ways in which stretching can be done. The first rule is that if stretching is causing you pain or if it is hurting you, then you are probably taking it too far. A muscle needs to relax as much as possible, if it needs to stretch. If one is stretching so hard that he or she cannot relax then the muscle will not lengthen. Stretching should never be painful.

One should also avoid stretching for an insufficient length of time. Only a few seconds of stretching will not hold the therapeutic effects of stretching.

The following methods are few of the correct ways to stretch:

  1. Always start with the warm muscles. Warm your muscles by doing some aerobic movement or by applying heat with the help of a warm bath.
  2. After warming your muscles, monitor your level of discomfort. Let it go once you feel pain.
  3. Hold any stretch for at least 30 seconds.

Stretching the Correct Muscle: There are muscles, which need to be stretched and there are muscles, which should not be. So getting to know the correct muscles to be stretched is as important as knowing the correct procedure to stretch your muscles. Every muscle, which does not hurt should not be stretched. There are different types of muscles that cause pain like stiff, tight, short muscles and long muscles. Muscles that are tight should only be subjected to stretching. Stretching muscles that are too long is not a good idea.

Using Physiotherapists: Most people who cannot determine which muscle should be stretched and which should not be should consult a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists can quickly and easily diagnose muscular issues. They will also show ways to stretch which are most effective for particular needs.

Stretching should be made a part of one's life. It is a way by which one can become their healthiest self and avoid muscular imbalances.

Hey my name is Manoj Parmar sir. I am 23 years old. I am suffering from sciatica disease. Please treat it forth and forth exercise Regards Manoj parmar.

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
To manage sciatica pain, you may find that certain positions and activities are more comfortable than others. The proper exercises from a physiotherapist will help reduce sciatic pain. The exercises recommended will depend on what's causing the sciatica. It's important to work with a specialist who has experience working with people with sciatica. It's also important to do the exercises exactly as directed. Here are some home treatments for sciatica which you can follow: -do not bend, lift, or sit in a soft, low chair; the pain will get worse. -try a cold pack to see if it helps the pain. If you don't have a cold pack, use a large bag of frozen vegetables; it makes a good first aid cold pack. -after the cold massages, try alternating with heat from hot bag. -you may feel better lying on your back on a firm surface with a pillow under knees. Another option is lying on side with a pillow between the knees to keep the back straight. Also, a recliner chair is helpful. -do activities one is able to tolerate. Best wishes.
