Hello, Your sister might be anaemic (low haemoglobin) and might be facing bowel irregularities. Low blood levels causes extreme uterine contractions during menses which result in pain which can also radiate to genital organs. Start Fal ghrita 1 tsp during breakfast. She will be alright.

Opening the tubal ligation means another operation. And next baby will be again delivered by cesarean section. Tubes can be reopened, but carrying a third child increases the risk of uterus getting ruptured during pregnancy, so such pregnancy is monitored very closely throughout 9 months. If there is no other option left then only you can go for this surgery.

Hi. Smelling something without any source of outside odour is termed as olfactory hallucinations. Connected directly to brain function. I would like to know if you hear some sounds in your ears too. If problem persists or gets associated with other sensory feelings pls. Consult a psychiatrist.

Hi! does it possible to get pregnant if we do unprotected sex 3 days before her periods?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
Sometimes periods get delayed due to late egg formation. Period timing gets lengthened. Pregnancy can happen if there is such an unusual delay in ovulation. But if her last 6 cycles were regular then the chance of this happening is very less.

Surgical Removal of Ovary - How To Prepare for It?

DGO , MBBS
Gynaecologist, Pune
Surgical Removal of Ovary - How To Prepare for It?

The part of the woman’s reproductive system where the eggs are stored and released for fertilisation, are known as the ovaries. The ovaries also produce various hormones. When a female patient has to go through a procedure to remove the ovaries, this surgical procedure is known as an oophorectomy. The patient may have to go through this procedure for a number of reasons. Let us find out more about the procedure and the recovery of the patient thereafter.

Causes: There are a number of reasons as to why a patient may have to go through this procedure. One of the most common reasons include pelvic diseases like ovarian cancer which makes it imperative to remove the ovaries so that the cancer does not spread to any other part of the uterus or the rest of the body. Also, when the endometriosis becomes particularly painful and severe, the patient may have to go through a hysterectomy to remove the uterus and an oophorectomy to remove the ovaries. Most of the times, these two procedures go hand in hand. Also, when the patient is suffering from breast cancer, the doctor may deem it fit to remove the ovaries to stop the spread and growth of the cancer. Other hereditary diseases may also be treated with this procedure.

Preparation: In order to prepare for the surgery, one will need to go through a series of imaging tests like an ultrasound as well as an MRI scan which will help the doctor decide on the kind of procedure that needs to be carried out. Most doctors will ask you to stop eating at least a day before the surgery and to ingest a solution so that the intestines are properly cleaned out. Also, if you are taking any kind of medication, you will need to stop taking the same before the surgery.

Procedure: The procedure can be done either with one large incision or with multiple small incisions, depending on the area and the severity of the problem that is being treated. The surgeon will insert a small tube bearing a camera into this incision, which in turn will beam the images on to a screen in the operating theatre. The ovaries will be separated from the blood supply before the tissue surrounding them will be placed in a pouch. This pouch will be pulled out through the smaller incisions.

Recovery: How soon you recover depends on how soon you choose to sit up and start walking after the surgery. One can get back to normal life within a few weeks or a month after the surgery by taking small steps every day. Complete recovery takes about six weeks. f you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist and ask a free question.

Face Lift Surgery - Complications Attached to It!

MBBS, MD - Dermatology
Dermatologist, Faridabad
Face Lift Surgery - Complications Attached to It!

It is no longer possible to tell a person's age by simply looking at the face. With the advances in cosmetic surgery, today it is very easy to effectively hide your age. A facelift or rhytidectomy is a cosmetic surgical procedure to reduce wrinkles and improve the overall appearance of your face. A facelift is considered a relatively safe procedure.

However, like any other surgery, it is associated with few risks.

  1. Pain: While a facelift surgery itself is usually performed under anesthesia, recovering from it might be a little painful. Your skin may also feel numb for a few days. Taking the pain medications prescribed by your doctor can help relieve the pain. However, if the pain is severe or if it suddenly increases, you must consult a doctor immediately.
  2. Swelling: Don't worry if your face looks swollen after the surgery. This is simply your body's natural reaction to the surgery. You will notice this swelling reduce in a few days. Though most of the swelling will subside in the first few days after the surgery, it can take a few weeks before the swelling completely subsides.
  3. Bruising: Like swelling, bruising is a natural reaction to surgery. In most cases, people see pronounced bruising especially around the eyes in the first few days after the surgery. Most of this bruising will fade away in a few weeks, but it may be a few months before your skin is clear again.
  4. Scarring: As your face heals after a facelift surgery, scarring can be seen wherever the incisions were made. Most cosmetic surgeons will make these incisions along the hairline or the natural creases of the face. This ensures that the scars are not prominently visible. In most cases, scarring fades with time till it is barely noticeable.
  5. Bleeding and hematoma: A certain amount of bleeding is normal after a facelift surgery. However, excessive bleeding or uncontrolled bleeding can lead to the formation of hematomas. A hematoma can be defined as a blood clot that occurs under the skin and outside a blood vessel. This can leave the area swollen and a minor surgery may be required to flush out the clot.
  6. Loss of sensation: Sometimes, nerve endings may get damaged during a face lift surgery. This can result in temporary loss of sensation in the area and difficulty in controlling the facial muscles. There may also be numbness or a tingling sensation around the incisions.

You may continue folic acid, and vitamin supplements, apart from that, we cannot advise you further until we know what kind of treatment you were on and what's your present state ,so would advise you to get your antinatal tests done in order to help you advise further on this. You will also need an ultrasound to be done to see for the foetal well being, after another 2 wks.

Me and my wife is 43,42 years old living a happy and healthy sex life, but incidentally due to failure contraceptive she conceived, but non growth of fetus in 8 weeks she has to undergo abortion, we have two females of 20,15 years. now problem is that she wants tubectomy immediately, but doctors tell us to do that after 6-8/weeks of abortion, yesterday we did intercourse using condom, but she is afraid some cum leaks in her vagina and she can get pregnant again, but I am sure no burst of condom, all cum in condom but how can I tell her, my life at presently in a very sad condition, what should I do to assure her that we do not need any baby in future and after a perfect time we will undergo tubectomy or vasectomy. Please guide.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
Vasectomy does not reduce the male hormones or the sex urge thereafter. It takes less than 30 mins and you can walk home almost immediately since it's done under local anesthesia. In fact you can get it done tomorrow if you want (monday). Visit any surgeon. She need not go for any surgery the. Her fobias will dissipate. When she realises that there is not going to be any repetition of her ordeal, and your commitment to top it, she should feel better. A condom safely used provides 100% protection, assure her of the fact. Only risk after vasectomy is that you have to use condoms for a month at least till you semen test shows no sperms.
