TIPS FOR EYE HEALTH AND MAINTAINING GOOD EYESIGHTS

1. Eat for Good Vision

Nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, zinc, and vitamins C and E might help ward off age-related vision problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts. Regularly eating these foods can help lead to good eye health:

# Green, leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, and collards
# Salmon, tuna, and other oily fish
# Eggs, nuts, beans, and other non-meat protein sources
# Oranges and other citrus fruits or juices

2. Quit Smoking

Smoking makes you more likely to get cataracts, optic nerve damage, and macular degeneration.

3. Wear Sunglasses

The right kind of sunglasses will help protect your eyes from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays.
Too much UV exposure makes you more likely to get cataracts and macular degeneration.
Choose sunglasses that block 99% to 100% of both UVA and UVB rays. Wraparound lenses help protect your eyes from the side.

4. Use Safety Eyewear

If you work with hazardous or airborne materials on the job or at home, wear safety glasses or protective goggles every time.
Certain sports such as ice hockey, racquetball, and lacrosse can also lead to eye injury. Wear eye protection (such as helmets with protective face masks or sports goggles with polycarbonate lenses) to shield your eyes.

5. Look Away From the Computer Screen

Staring at a computer screen for too long can cause:

# Eyestrain
# Blurry vision
# Trouble focusing at a distance
# Dry eye

Dear Treat you cold and the eye watering will stop. All computer professionals / users need a 5min break for every half hour to prevent dryness / you may wash your face frequently / cold water fermentation / will help / if symptoms are not relieved add eye drops hourly ? titrate according to comfort levels

Your eye strain is may due to weakness or computer vision syndrome. Go for proper eye checkup any where and find the exact power of glasse. For the time being you may use ophthacare eye drops 1-1 drops in both eye 3-4 time in a day (himalaya company it is an ayurvedic medicine)

I can not able see long distances after working some time on laptop what should I do?

That is normal. It is called accommodation spasm. To avoid this follow the 20-20-20 rule. When you are working on the computer every 20 minutes take a small break of 20 seconds and look at a distance of atleast 20 feet away and blink briskly for few times.

People with high cholesterol general have yellowish deposits underneath the skin around the eyelids called xanthelasma. While they are neither harmful nor painful, these minor growths may be disfiguring and can be removed. Xanthelasmata can be removed with a surgerical excision, trichloroacetic acid peel, lasers or cryotherapy. Or it could be lipemia retinalis. It is an unusual retinal manifestation of hyperlipidemia and is directly correlated with the serum triglyceride levels. The lipid-lowering therapy leads to the normalization of the appearance of the fundus and restore the visual acuity.

There is no medication or food or acupressure for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 23 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik. Having said that it would have been better if you would have send your glasses number.

Hello sir/madam, I am from Bangalore. I recently entered into modelling field(FYI). I used to wear specs for more than 15 years and because of that my eyes has gone inside. It's like if I wear by specs my face looks nice and if I remove my specs my faces looks something different and that affects my modelling career I believe. Is there any solutions you can assist me with? Should I go for the lasic operation so It might be a good option for me to get the Vision and eyes back to normal? Thanks,

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Lasik is best option for you to get rid of glasses. As you have used glasses for allong time, it will look little bit different to you for a while, but to those who haven't seen you before, will not feel like this. It will take time for you to adapt to the face without specs.
