Chlamydia - Reasons Why it Affects Women

MBBS, DGO, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MRCOG
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Chlamydia - Reasons Why it Affects Women

Chlamydia is one of the more common STDs among both the genders. It spreads through physical intimate contact; it can develop irrespective of one’s age, however, is most commonly observed among young women. In women, the symptoms include yellow or green colored odorous vaginal discharge, painful urination and a burning sensation or itching around the vagina, lower abdominal ache, painful menstruation or bleeding during sexual intercourse. Now if the infection reaches up to the fallopian tubes, it causes a disease known as Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). In case of unprotected oral sex, the bacteria causing this disorder, ‘Chlamydia Trachomatis’ might infect the throat as well.

Reasons Behind Chlamydia in Women:

  1. Being a sexually transmitted disease, Chlamydia gets passed on from one person to another through unprotected sex or through the contact with the genitals of an infected person.

  2. In some cases, infants are likely to inherit the disease from their mothers during birth, if she is already affected with it. Hence pre-natal checkups are essential for detection.

  3. Although very rare, this infection can affect the eyes as well via oral or genital contact.

How To Treat Chlamydia?

  1. The infection can be resolved within a couple of weeks with the use of antibiotics. Once it is diagnosed, the treatment course should start immediately. The widely used antibiotics for curing chlamydia are azithromycin and doxycycline. If you are breastfeeding or pregnant or suffering from any allergy, your doctor might prescribe erythromycin or amoxicillin. For severe complications, a longer course is administered. The treatment may induce mild side-effects in the form of vaginal thrush, sickness, diarrhea and tummy pain.

  2. Try and avoid any sort of sexual activity (intercourse or other activities) till the treatment is completely done and none of you show any other sign of the infection. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Night fall is normal & physiological after puberty. There is nothing to worry about it. Frequency & volume also vary from person to person. No special diet is required. You should have a balanced diet, any size more than 10 cm is adequate.

Hello sir/madam I started masturbating when I was 13. I used to masturbate on a daily basis. Sometimes 2-3 times in a day! Fed up of addiction, I made a strong mind and stopped masturbating when I was 16. I didn't masturbate for three and a half years. Not even once! I suspect I am running low on testosterone. Is this because I masturbated too much in the past? Does masturbating daily have any negative effects? Does masturbation hampers testosterone? Does it affect muscle growth? I have less muscles and more fat. Please help me.

Masturbation in Men :Myths, Benefits and harms. Masturbation is a kind of topic which is normally avoided by people as they consider it as a taboo. However, masturbation is healthy and completely normal sexual behaviour. There are so many myths associated with masturbation which are really not true. However, masturbating can have some adverse effects but a few. But, masturbation is not dirty and doesn’t make you less as a person, so don’t feel ashamed or bad about masturbation and activities related to it. What is Masturbation? Masturbation is a process in which a person derives sexual pleasure and satisfaction by stroking or rubbing his/her genitals by his/her hands manually and using sex toys. It is normally done solo but, also performed in relationships to get orgasm and sex arousal. It’s completely a normal activity of humans which has got no harmful physical and emotional effects. Masturbation has got so many benefits to human body and in the case of excessive masturbation it could lead few harmful effects. Myths: Masturbation minimizes sexual performance and libido later in life. Masturbation reduces the quantity of semen. Masturbation badly affects the quality of semen. Masturbation makes semen thin in texture making it watery. Masturbation causes blindness. Masturbation causes mental illness. Masturbation causes infertility. Masturbation causes growth of hair on palms. BENIFITS: Manages your premature ejaculation. Reduces the risk of Prostate Cancer. Makes you pelvic muscles strong to prevent erectile dysfunction. Improves sperm quality and motility. Helps your sexual intercourse to enhance by increasing your sexual longevity. Reduces nasal congestion during cold and flu. Reduces stress and depression. Enhances your mood. Helps to get good sleep for insomnia patients. Makes you aware of your sexuality. Enhances your immune system. Satisfies your sexual desire and strengthens your relationships. Controlled masturbation will not effect height. Eat more vegetables and fruits. Harmful effects: Can cause parasympathetic nervous functions which leads to over production of sex hormones and neurotransmitters which cause side effects like fatigue, memory loss, hair loss, groin pain and blurred vision. Cause obsessive compulsive behaviour like addiction to masturbation. Cause bruises if stroked too vigorously. Leads to hardening of the penis skin. Causes desensitized of penis skin. Can cause seminal leakage. Masturbation is nothing evil or sinful, so no need of getting ashamed of yourself. Rather it’s a matured sexual activity to keep yourself sexually active, sexually satisfied and your mind in control. It is totally normal and safe sexual behaviour for both men and women. It enhances your health in every aspect, but remember too much of anything can be real bad. So, do masturbate more often to stay healthy and keep enjoying!

My wife just rubbing my penis itself sperm comes out. What can I do for that? I'm having hand job for 7 yrs. Any wrong thing will happen?

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
The white sticky discharge you get even with slight excitement is nothing but a secretion of periurethral glands located in urethra. This is normal secretion of these glands which help in free passage of thick semen through urethra during ejaculation. This is excessive in your case. It will settle down itself once you get used to normal sexual life.

Hello- You are suffering from Azoospermia, it is defined as the complete lack of sperm in the ejaculate. It occurs in 5% of infertile men. If this is the case, then one or both of two conditions may be present (“causes”): -There is a problem with sperm production. -There is a blockage such that sperm production, although normal, cannot reach the ejaculate. Both the conditions can be cured with the help of medications.

I am a student of engineering and in my hostel mess food was not good. So my stomach is paining regularly. So give me proper suggestion.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
Your symptoms are pointing towards some gastrointestinal disease, stomach pain after food may result from simple overeating, hot spicy food, food allergy (glutens, grains, dairy products), gastric ulcer, gall stone, appendicitis, celiac disease so first thing I advice you to visit a gastroenterologist so that a proper diagnosis can be made but for complete cure you can go for constitutional homoeopathic treatment which will remove your disease from the root.
