Massage with your thumbs from the mid points of the shoulder blades on both sides towards the lower back of your head up to lower level of the ears. Use oil or water for massage. Rotate your head clockwise and anticlockwise, forward and down, left and right a few times. Do for 5 to 10 times morning and evening give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem. Further do some wrist rotation exercise. Consult after 5 days avoid junk food, oil, maida, sugar has to be cut down very much. Realise that foregoing these items are better than the pain.

This can be due to hypothyroidism. Also mention her ongoing treatment as some medicines do have swelling as side effect.

I am 40 years old women and met with a accident and gone a humerus bone fracture. I was fitted a dynamic plate. I have radial nerve palsy after the operation or maybe the accident. How to cure it? And how much time would it take for it cure?

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS)
Orthopedist, Trichy
it depends if the radial nerve palsy was present before the surgery or test it developed after the surgery. if the nerve was damaged before the surgery then it can usually take up to 6 weeks to recover completely beyond which time a nerve conduction test has to be done to look for the continuity of the nerve. if it was damaged after surgery then the surgeon would have Re explored to see if the now has been damage by the plate.

See dear if the pain is so much like ij legs also then you need a bed rest and do not be afraid of disc bulge as it is very common these days and good news is its totally preventable by just doing simple changes in your lifestyle like use stairs, drink more water, keep changing your positions frequently etc.

Hi I am Dr Akshay from Fortis hospital , New Delhi. I am not quite sure that it is caused by hot water bottle. Anyways you would require maybe some footwear modification and a short course of analgesics for relief. If still in doubt kindly get in touch with me. I had torn my knee ACL partially 6 years back. After rehab and strengthening it for 4 months I started playing football again and in the last 3 Years I have done a lot of knee and legs strengthening exercises and never experienced any pain even when I lifted heavy weights on back and front squats. I also kept playing football every now and then but wasn't very regular. Now a few weeks back I started playing football twice every weekend and on the second day I felt a littler jerk in my knee. There was a little pain but that went away in the weekdays and I was able to play on Saturday and Sunday again. But on Sunday I felt that jerk again. Thought it would be best to get it checked out. I had gotten a knee MRI done in December and the doctor told me that its a little torn but if there is no pain I can continue playing and working out. Took the same MRI to another doctor and he told me that I need to get a surgery done and that's the only way to fix this. My question is this- what if I don't get the surgery done? Can I continue playing football? Is there another way to fix this. Are there other things I should try before I get the surgery done? How long is the rehab process post surgery. Will I be bed ridden etc. Please help. Thanks.

You must have torn your acl completely this time since you had a jerk twice and you are experiencing instability in the knee joint and thats why you are not able to play football. You should get another mri of knee and see a sports injury specialist. If there is complete acl tear and you want to play football then you need to get acl reconstructive surgery.

Lybrate-user, I understand that you are having pain in lower abdomen, lower back and probably cramps. I did not understand the word" dpo" certain short forms are unclear, better to write in full words. You are thyroxine 125 mcg a day. But you have not mentioned about current or latest tsh levels. Many a times if hypothyroidism is not under control (tsh between 3 to 4 mu/l), various symptoms can keep occurring. Apart from taking prescribed medicine you have to also exercise for 1 hour a day and follow dietary restrictions. It will be better if all the information is given, and you come in a private conversation, then I will be able to guide. Thanks.

This is a general strain due to excessive walking or standing and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain. Osteoarthritic Pain:Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. Simple Knee Exercises would help to strengthen the quadriceps muscle which is the key muscle. Specific knee exercises will also help ie. Keeping a soft ball underneath the knee and you have to keep pressing it. That's the simple exercise which will help you to strengthen the knee. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone.
