1. It could be due to gerd (gastro oesophageal reflux disease). 2. You may have to do upper gi endoscopy after consulting gastro enterologist. 3. Avoid spcy/fried food and citrus fruit 4. Take one tablet of pan 40 daily in the morning before breakfast.

I am 73 Yrs old male. I had a brain surgery for sudural hematoma in 2004. And become alright soon. Of late I am having muscle pull (cramps) when I turn left of right side or when I bend down and during sneezing. Also my fingers and toes become stiff. What are they due to and what are the remedies? Physiotherapy is of no use. Kindly suggest some medicines.

You are most likely having cramps of muscles due to weekness. During acute stage you should apply some muscle relaxant like volini ointment or spray. Go for regular morning walk followed by free hand exercises. Have nutritious balanced diet. And plenty of water by mouth cramps of muscles mostly due to lack of water also. You will be all right.

Exercises, diet and weight management are the important parts of treatment. Pcod itself cannot be cured since it is the nature of the ovaries which are polycystic but the functioning of the ovaries can be altered.

As far as alcohol is concerned, let me tell you it provides nothing but empty calories. This means there are no nutrients- no vitamins, minerals etc..only carbs and hence energy. so, better avoid it completely. Buttermilk/ coconut water/ lemon water/ light tea and coffee are really good. Limit diet drinks too as they have an impact on the insulin levels in the body and can indirectly lead to weight gain. Excessive use of diet drinks has side effects. Oil - Rice Bran/Canola/ Olive oil/ soyabean/mustard are all considered good oils
