Don't use dermaroller, clean your face in regular basis with herbal facewash (neem) eat healthy, give some time to facial tissue to recover, it may be take 1-2 months for self healing.

Small lumps of fat are quite common and normal in humans. If the lump is increasing in size and cause pain and functional impairement you should look a surgeon to examine that. Thanks.

I have a cut mark on right side of my upper lip. It is about 2 cm in length. It's been there since my childhood. The cut mark is there because of a surgery that was done when I was around 1-2 year old. I am 27 now and want to go for a surgery to hide this cut mark.  I want to know should I go for surgery? Is is safe? What would be approx. Time (sittings) for the surgery? What would be the approx. Cost for this?

If it s an ugly post operative scar, then you can undergo corrective plastic surgery. But rem, every surgery leaves a scar mark to the body. If it is really ugly looking scar, then only revision.

Glutathione - How It Can Help With Skin Whitening Treatment

Glutathione - How It Can Help With Skin Whitening Treatment

Almost everyone wants their skin to look healthy, rejuvenated and fairer. From home remedies to medical and cosmetic assistance, people try everything under the sun to improve their skin tone. Any discussion about skin whitening is incomplete without the mention of glutathione. Often referred to as the "Mother of all antioxidants", glutathione, a tripeptide comprising of the three amino acids- glycine, cysteine, and glutamine, also comes with detoxifying and anti-aging properties, and are extensively being used in the cosmetic industry.

Glutathione as a skin whitening agent
The pigment responsible for one's skin color is Melanin. The enzyme Tyrosinase plays a pivotal role in the synthesis of this pigment. In case of a darker complexion or an uneven skin, there is also an elevated production of Eumelanin (a pigment responsible for imparting the dark brown color). Glutathione goes a long way to inhibit the activity of the Tyrosinase enzyme which, in turn, slows down the production of melanin. Further, the antioxidant is also responsible for an increased conversion of Eumelanin to Pheomelanin (responsible for imparting the yellow-red color), thereby lightening the skin tone significantly.

Glutathione, being a naturally occurring antioxidant also functions as a free radical scavenger protecting the skin from oxidative damage and the deleterious effects of the free radicals such as accelerated skin aging, wrinkles, saggy and tired looking skin, to name a few. There are specialized clinics and cosmetic centers that use glutathione as an active ingredient in a host of skin treatments including chemical peels. In most of the cases, glutathione is used in an injectable form (Glutathione Injections) to ensure its better absorption in the body They are also available in topical forms.

Some of the side effects of glutathione
The use of glutathione should be under expert guidance. People with asthma should specifically refrain from using Glutathione (be it in oral or injectable form). Elevated use of glutathione for long can also lower the level of zinc in the body and may trigger kidney, thyroid dysfunctions and peptic ulcers.

Factors that influence the glutathione level in the body
The level of Glutathione in our bodies can be affected by several factors some of which include

  • Unhealthy dietary habits (processed foods, pasteurized dairy products, artificial sweeteners, hams, hot dogs, smoked and Barbecued foods, chlorinated water) and lifestyle practices (increased intake of alcohol or tobacco ).
  • Stress, lack of sleep.
  • Increased exposure to industrial pollutants, UV-radiation.
  • The level of glutathione also decreases with age.

Thus, to boost the glutathione level in the body, enrich the diet with foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, garlic, spinach, Brussels sprouts, cardamom, cinnamon, turmeric, parsley.

  • Avoid overcooking the vegetables.
  • Use a non-stick cookware on low or medium heat.
  • Make sure you follow a regular sleep cycle and avoid being overstressed.

It should be restricted in patients having altered Liver functions.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Gastric Bypass Surgery - Who Can Go For It?

Gastric Bypass Surgery - Who Can Go For It?

Are you overweight and thinking about undergoing a weight loss surgery? If yes, then you can opt for a gastric bypass surgery in which certain changes are made to your digestive system. Due to these changes, the amount of food you consume gets limited and the absorption of nutrients also gets reduced. Hence, weight is lost due to a reduced appetite or stomach capacity. This surgery is undertaken by people who face severe health difficulties because of being overweight. Gastric bypass surgery is a very common form of weight loss surgery associated with fewer complications.

Why is it carried out?
A gastric bypass surgery is carried out to help you lose excess weight. This reduces the risk of several weight related health problems such as heart diseases, hypertension, severe sleep apnea, strokes, type 2 diabetes and gastroesophageal reflux disease. This surgery is undertaken when a person fails to lose weight after following several other methods.

Who is it for?
You can undergo a gastric bypass surgery only when your body mass index or BMI is 40 or higher, or when your BMI is between 35 to 39.9 and you also have a severe condition such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure. This surgery is not for all people who are overweight and several criteria have to be fulfilled before deciding on getting a gastric bypass surgery.

Procedure
This surgery has to be carried out at a hospital and the patient is given general anesthesia. The surgery depends on the individual situation of the patient and on the surgeon who will perform the surgery. Most bariatric or gastric bypass surgeries are carried out laparoscopically. A laparoscope, which is a small, tubular device with a camera attached to it, is inserted into the abdomen via small incisions. The camera allows the surgeon to see the inside your abdomen and perform the procedure. A laparoscopic surgery is efficient and the patient recovers faster than other modes of surgery. The surgery takes several hours to be successfully completed. The patient may have to stay at the hospital for five days.

Results
Gastric bypass surgery or bariatric surgery provides long-term weight loss. The amount of weight that will be lost depends on the surgical procedure and the patient’s new lifestyle and habits. It is possible to lose more than 50% of the pre-surgery body weight within a span of two years. Along with weight loss, the surgery also improves and resolves various conditions related to obesity.

A gastric bypass surgery also improves a patient’s ability to undertake regular activities. This improves the quality of life and the patient gains confidence and self-esteem. A successful gastric bypass surgery can change your life. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can ask a free question.

I have white some spots on my body. Is it curable? how much time will it take. I am 55 years old.
Hello. White patches/ dots on your skin are a common type of depigmented skin lesion associated with an infection, allergy, or autoimmune disorder. One common cause of white spots, or hypopigmentation, is a fungal infection of the skin known as tinea versicolor (associated with other symptoms, such as itching or dryness on or around the white patches). This fungal infection is not contagious and can be treated easily with over-the-counter medications. The white spots and patches can also be becuase of deiciency of vitamin D (for which 15-20 minutes of exposure to early morning sunlight without sunscreen is needed, 3-4times a week). Or else they could be idiopathic (i.e., without any cause). Please tell me other symptoms like about sensation on the area, since how long do you have this patch, any family history of white patch, etc. Meantime, you can start with homoeopathic Rx - Ars. Sulph. Flavum. 200/ twice daily for 20days (as it is safe).

Add a mixture of turmeric powder and a couple of teaspoons of mustard oil and apply it to the areas where you see white patches on your body. It will help in boosting your immune system. If there are a lot of areas in your body where you see white patches, then you need to increase the quantity of oil and turmeric powder accordingly. Apply this mixture to your skin twice daily. You need to use this continuously for a year to see visible and effective results.  Neem Extracts Neem is used to treat a lot of skin problems and it is said that it is a very good remedy for treating autoimmune disorders. All you need to do is to make a good powder of the dried leaves of the neem tree along with its dried flowers and fruits. You need to take one teaspoon of this powder mixture with a glass of water every day. It helps to fight immunity disorders and thereby help in reducing white patches on your skin. You can also make a fresh paste of the neem leaves with a little bit of water and apply it to he affected area. You need to rinse it off after ten to fifteen minutes. This remedy will greatly help in reducing white spots if used on a regular basis. Honey The anti fugal property in honey will take care of the fungus that causes the white patches on your skin. It will help your skin to glow and to retain its normal color. You need to first clean the affected area of your skin with soap and lukewarm water and then pat the area dry. Apply liquid honey on to the affected area and allow it to get absorbed by the skin fully to see good results after few weeks or months of application.
