I am 22 years old. I'm a virgin. Post period my clitoris seems to hurt. When I splash water on it the area burns. Is it due to friction from pads? I washed the area with wash.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
It is a highly sensitive area and after periods it is even more sensitive-so just wash that area with precautions during periods and few days after periods and do not use any wash or soap, just plain water will do-----------------if this burning is prolonged then you can go for a routine urine examination as a precautionary measure---------------------

The only sure way to confirm it is to do a blood test for pregnancy and an ultrasound. Please meet a gynaecologist

During process of healing inflammatory exudate generally comes out at lesion site. It completely heals between 7-14 days. If there is some infection, anti biotics should have taken care of. But your culture shows no infection. Better to take herbal suoooert. Drink little curcumin powder with milk 1/2 tsp bd. Also apply jatyadi oil + panchgun oil mixed dressing at sutural site. It will heal and dry completely and also relieve pain. Your allopathic treatment is not bad but now you may get support of harmless and side effect less ayurveda. Hope it solves your question.

The first possibility that you have to eliminate is pregnancy even if you have the slightest doubt. If the urine home test is negative, and this is the first time you have a delayed cycle, you can wait up to a full month for spontaneous period. (repeat urine test again after another week if doubtful). If still it isn't coming, there are several medicines on prescription to get the period. Breast, abdominal heaviness, nausea, pimples, etc may be early symptoms of pregnancy, but exist during normal delay as well.

My mother has uterus problem. Uterus become bigger than past. What medicine prefer for this please help me. What I am doing.

Bigger uterus always does not need treatment. We treat them only if patients have any problems. Some patients can be treated by medicine alone but some may need removal of uterus (surgery). So, it varies from patients to patients.

I am about to get married, need to ask about family planing issue. Me and my wife would be using condoms for the same as we are planning baby after 2 years. I need to ask is there any side effects of using condoms for such a period? And also how to stop pregnancy if in case there is unprotected mate between us. Please do answer this as we are bit confused.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- you can do sex without condom in safe period of the pregnancy (4-10th day & 21-28th day in a 28 days cycle) however in between these days you can use condom to avoid pregnancy. Don't go for hormonal pills for contraception as it will reduce your chances of pregnancy in future when you need most.

Hi lybrate-user you should get a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy, because sometimes their could be implantation bleeding in early pregnancy.

Me and my girlfriend had unprotected sex on the day she was about to have her periods. I didn't ejaculate inside her. After sex she had an emergency contraceptive pill within 24 hours. Its been 4 days now and she is having sever pain in her lower abdomen and she is frequently urinating. What should we do?

Hi Gokul. The pain is due to high hormone levels in her body now because of the emergency contraceptive pill. Do not worry. She should get her periods soon. The pain and increased urination could also be due to urinary tract infection. Ask her have plenty of water, 2-3 litres a day. Also get a urine culture and sensitivity done to start antibiotic treatment. All the best

Unprotected Intercourse and Pregnancy

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Gurgaon
Unprotected Intercourse and Pregnancy

Unprotected intercourse can lead to a pregnancy. But chances of pregnancy depend on which phase of the cycle was one intimate.

If there is a proper period after the episode then it is impossible that you are pregnant of that episode of intercourse.

However, a similar but lighter bleeding of a couple of days also can occur at nearly the same of your periods. But Beware this maybe an implantation bleed, which is an early sign of pregnancy.

So whenever in doubt its best to check with a home pregnancy test or consult a gynaecologist as soon as possible.

You did the sex without protection. There are every chances to get the pregnancy. Do the pregnancy test first. If it is negative then there is nothing to worry.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

BHMS
Homeopath, Delhi

Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age.
PCOS causes irregular menstrual cycles, excessive body or facial hair and polycystic ovaries as it's main symptoms.
The cause of PCOS is not known. Some women with PCOS are less sensitive to insulin than other women. Insulin resistance can cause the ovaries to produce too many male hormones. The resulting hormonal imbalance can cause symptoms of PCOS. Currently, PCOS has no cure, but a variety of PCOS treatments can help alleviate the symptoms of this disease, including fertility.
PCOS symptoms -
-irregular or missing menstrual periods
-infertility
-excess or unwanted body or facial hair growth
-thinning hair on the scalp
-weight problems, often including weight gain around the waist
-skin problems, including skin tags, darkening skin and acne

Pcos treatment

-birth control pills to regulate menstruation
-ovulation induction to treat infertility
-treatment for hair loss
-removal of other skin problems

Lifestyle and prevention

A healthy diet low in refined carbohydrates is important, as this can help regulate blood sugar levels. Exercise can also help the body regulate insulin and keep excess weight off. Losing weight is challenging with PCOS but doing so can help reduce the male hormone levels in the body, and some women will begin to ovulate naturally. With a proper diagnosis, lifestyle changes and PCOS treatments, women can get relief from this condition and the overwhelming health problems it can cause.

Once period sets in, there are abolutely no chances of pregnancy--------but scanty menstrual bleeding and late periods are suggestive of some gynaecological problem other than pregnancy----------so pleae provide me complete case history of preent menstrual complaints sso that a proper diagnosi is made and treatment given accordingly-------------
