Backache is the commonest ailment. Do not worry, rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Do back (spine) exercises contact me again if need be. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan.

Hello Lybrate user,  Back pain that is associated with day time sedentary jobs like computer professional s are associated with paraspinal muscle spasms. The best way to tackle this sort of pain is to do well spaced Stretching exercises of the back, back extension exercises, using hot water bags to provide relief and avoiding stooping posture while sitting. Posture also plays a very important part in back pain, always maintain a straight posture while sitting. While getting up from the bed try to first go on your left or right side of the body and get up side ways. Avoid Cruntches or Sit-ups: they may increase the pressure on your back and may predispose to Slip Disc. Always maintain a healthy Lifestyle in terms of regular brisk walking, meditation, eating healthy. P. S: Try to avoid pain killers (Analgesics) as much as possible as many are associated with Side effects that you may not be aware of. Stay Healthy. Stay Happy God bless you.

Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Back stretching- lie flat, pull one of the knee forward to chest, hold for 3 seconds, then bring the other knee forward to the chest and again hold for 3 seconds. Then pull both knees towards the chest and hold for 3 seconds. Repeat 10 times each exercise twice a day.

U are suffering from cervical spondylitis. Get x ray cervical spine AP and lateral views, serum vitamin D and uric acid and get back with reports. U can Take Tab Vertin 16 mgs twice a day for the dizziness in the meantime.

I am having finger pain in my left hand thumb from past 4 months. My thumb got stretched back suddenly while pressing the car seat spring button. Its not giving me unbearable pain, but there is a continuous pain while lifting heavy things or even shaking hands. Its giving me a uncomfortable feeling and also I am not able to pop this finger. The pain is in between the wrist and thumb, there is no pain in the thumb joints. I tried using joint pain palms .but no effect. Any suggestions or home remedies?

Hi Apply pranacharya restopain oil or prasarini oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation. Take maha rasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day...take pranacharya vatari syrup and capsule twice a day...And agni tundi vati and maha yograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day

Diabetes affects all organs in the body ? Eyes, kidneys, nerves, reproductive system all are affected, In fact, from toe to hair. For diabetic control, patient should be under proper guidance for regular follow up and advice. It is not as easy task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (Self-Monitoring of Blood glucose ? SMBG). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of Fasting sugar (FBS) and 2 hours after food (PPBS), & HbA1C (inform me) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ Insulin will be needed. There are different diet plans of varying calories for each person depending on his activity & lifestyle.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There are multiple causes of shoulder pain which can include issues in ligaments, tendons, bursa or the joint itself. I will advise you that if you have a localized pain in your shoulder without any associated swelling, redness or any other sign of infection or inflammation, then start with physical therapy and anti inflammatory medications. See if your pain starts improving in 2-3 weeks time, then its ok otherwise I advise mri of the shoulder to see whats going on because 6 months is long time for pain to continue do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hello doctor. my knee stiffness problem is still there after 7 months. And even with 5 hours of exercise this. Stiffness still exist. Sir can you please suggest me some ways to quickly sort this problem.

Don't do so much exercise. Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 1 wk, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Dear lybrate-user, I do agreed with opinion of said doctor in reference, but steroid shot is transiently effective, to relieve inflammation. If your all measure fails then orthobiological treatment with prp/stem cells are top option, no doubt very costly but with proven results in my opinion as we do regularly. For detail pl go through.

I had a bi lateral TKR in Oct 2001 and a revised TKR IN RIGHT knee in Jun 2010.So far it is functioning well. However I am now having severe pain in my LEFT leg for the last 3-4 months.This pain occurs for an hour or two every morning after I get up and appears to emanate from the area above the LEFT KNEE-CAP , possibly from some NERVE. After I massage the area firmly and/or apply a vibrator, the pain eases gradually.A hot water bath also helps as also exercises of my LOWER torso/legs. I consulte d an ORTHO a few weeks back and he did not find anything wrong with the TKR and suggested wearing a KNEE brace on the left knee to protect /prolong its life.However,I continue to suffer the daily pain for 2-3 hours. Rest of the day is comfortable with the knee brace. I do not wish another REVISION TKR on the left knee if it can be avoided. CAN SOMEONE KINDLY ADVISE ABOUT THE SOURCE AND REASON BEHIND THE PAIN AND what I can /should do to avoid / minimize it . OR MAYBE I should think of having another leftside TKR, HOWEVER MUCH I WANT TO AVOID IT. I AM DESPERATE . PLEASE ADVISE.

1. Take one tablet of crocin pain relief sos after food upto a maximum of 3 tablets daily 2. Apply volini gel twice daily 3. Give warm compress locally 4. Take adequate rest 5. Sometimes it could be due to bad sitting posture while reading or working on computer. Adopt proper sitting posture, put neck rest, use soft pillow while sleeping.

I am having pain in my right foot the sometimes ankle some times front side of my foot and knee also it becomes stiff I can't sit comfortable even in car while sitting I have to literally pick my leg at night also I have stiffness in knee got checked tsh, uric acid and esr and have shown to some doctor he said it is ok, if I try to do cycling or some exercises it gives more pain.

For leg pain try this. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Pl watch your wight reduction by at least 5 kgs. Consult after 5 days.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.
