I am 14 yrs old boy. I am having pain in my neck and bending it again and again relief me somehow, but it had become a bad habit. Please help

Get your vitamin d and uric acid levels done (blood tests), vitamin d may be low or uric acid raised. Also learn isometric neck exercises ( physiotherapist can teach you) 20 mins 3 times a day. Use a thin pillow at night and avoid sitting on the pc for more than 1/2 hr.

go for Ayurveda's Panchkarma Therapy - We have many option for u - Greeva Basti (Specialized procedure for Neck pains), Localised Massgae with Herbal oils, Localised Medicated Steam, Pottali Massage. Continue these procedures for atleast 15 days. Regular oiling of the joint will improve the lubrication also. These procedures will relax ur neck muscles and give strength to ur nerves and muscles of neck. also start some Yogic exercises - Tadasana, Dhanurasan, halasana along with these therapies. avoid using big pillow. do not read or use gadets while lying on bed. Iam facing problem on the left hip side, I have undergone physyotherapy, through ultra scan found no kindney stone,no galblader stone, don't find any irritation while urine. In take of water 2 to 3ltrs a day. Some of the doctors told some bad toxin present in the urine blader, it has to come out, under going treatment for accupuntre treatment, almost 2months has gone still the problem presist. Underneath of foot found uncomfortable feeling. Some time pain comes. Suggestion required

Have you undergone X ray assessment of your hip and lower spine. Your problem could be related to your hip or your spine. Also check your blood sugar levels to make sure you don't suffer from diabetes.

I suggest you follow the below for your condition: take mag phos 12x - thrice daily for next 2 weeks and update. Also do x-ray of the affected area. Rest. Ceasing activity for a few days allows injured tissue and even nerve roots to begin to heal, which in turn will help relieve lower back pain. However, more than a few days of rest can lead to a weakening of the muscles, and weak muscles have to struggle to adequately support the spine. Patients who do not regularly exercise to build strength and flexibility are more likely to experience recurrent or prolonged lower back pain. Heat and ice packs. Heat and/or cold therapy helps relieve most types of low back pain by reducing inflammation. Often patients use ice, but some prefer heat. Both may be used alternately.

Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Please tell me what was the initiating factor for your pain? there are many causes of knee pain in young people, if there is no associated swelling, skin redness or any other s/s of inflammation or infection, then - start with intensive physical therapy focussing on strengthening of your quadriceps muscle and stretching of other muscle groups - hot water fomentation 3-4 times at home - local analgesic spray like dynapar qps for local application after fomentation - take adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation as per requirement - you can take short course of anti inflammatory medication like tab etoshine, tab paracetamol or any medicine which suits you for 5-7 days what medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. I would like to know whether you have got your inflammatory profile done till now. Also please let me know what all exercises you are doing on a daily basis. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

1.Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. Massage this oil on your affected areas. After that do hot fomentation with salt potli (bag). 2.Take 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. 3.Increase the consumption of vitamin C in diet. 4.Take fresh Ginger into pieces, place in the cup of water and boil it for 30 minutes in low flame. Cool for 30 minutes after boiling. Consume this solution with Honey. 5.While sleeping, lie straight on your back or with bent knees supported by a pillow. 6.Taking hot and cold compresses on an alternate basis can be quite helpful in relieving pain. 7. Mix equal quantities of powdered fenugreek seeds, turmeric and ginger powder. Take one teaspoon daily in the morning and evening....

I am 65 years old & have got knee paid & joint pain and leg, it become very difficult to walk, in nigh my left knee does have burning pain. I keep pillow below my foot while sleeping. I am sugar patient & when consulted dr he told it is a sort of arthites have to take walk but it become very difficult for me to walk. Please advice me what should I do.?

Hi thanks for your query. You have multiple issues, with diabetes you can have sensations like burning in foot but these can also come from lower back pathology. What is the age of your father? investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5days,please inform.

Hello, there are many causes behind backache *any strain or sprain in the muscles or ligaments of the back during lifting of heavy objects is the main cause of the lower back pain. *sitting in the wrong posture for a very long time is another cause. *people suffering from constipation may also suffer from lower back pain. *sometimes sleeping on wrong type of beds can also cause pain in the back. Follow the tips *take rest or move about once in 1-2 hours in case of working in a constant position. *maintain a good posture while reading or working with computers. *take a high fibre content diet like vegetables, fruits, etc.

To remain healthy and Fit ,you should follow 3 steps in your life 1.BALANCED DIET 2.EARLY MORNING BRISK MORNING WALK for 30 minutes and 10 minutes evening walk after Dinner 3.DRINK 6-8 Glasse of water daily. As 60% of our body is made of water, it acts as a carrier of essential nutrients inside our body. Loosing as little as 5% of body's weight as water can cause headache, fatigue and lower your muscle strength. To stay healthy, an adult should drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday. Balanced Diet= 60% Carbohydrates + 20% Fats + 20% Proteins 1. Carbohydrates: Our main source of energy. Stored in liver and muscles. Carbohydrates are used the most by our body duringexercise. Hence, it is important for people who exercise regularly to consume a diet rich in carbohydrates. (a) Instant/rapid carbohydrates energy sources: Banana, Milk, Sweets, Sugarcane juice. (b) Slow carbohydrates energy sources: Beans, Bread, Cereals, Potato, Pulses, Rice. 2. Proteins: Essential for growth, repair of muscle, skin, hair and body tissues. It's due to nutritional deficiencies and overweight. Control your with exercise and dieting and take calcium, vitamin d and vitamin e supplements. Take plenty of vitamin b12 for nerves.

Dear Lybrate User, *One teaspoon turmeric, ¼ teaspoon garlic, ¼ teaspoon ajowain, ½ teaspoon coriander seed powder, ½ teaspoon fenugreek with half glass of water twice a day. *Body massage with sesame or mustard oil helps to reduce vata, resulting in less pain. The joints affected by pain can be massaged for longer time. *Light exercise is useful but you must know your limits. As a general rule if any exercise, including walking, causes pain after one hour, you have crossed your limit. *Liberal intake of orange juice or sweet limejuice or vitamin C enhances the efficacy of any anti-rheumatic drug since vitamin C can reduce skeletal pain. *Guggul is a very helpful herb for curing arthritis. *Eat right:Food rich in Vitamin E, calcium and oil can help prevent arthritis. Eat lots of fruits, green leafy vegetables and milk products. Fish is a good source of cod liver oil, which helps fight arthritis. Drink plenty of water, which is necessary for joint lubrication. It also helps with weight maintenance. Think of drinking water as ridding your body of toxins.

Gout: In the simplest of words gout can be defined as the inflammation of joints due to continuous accretion of urate crystals. An excess of uric acid can make a person suffer from gout.   1. Urtica urens can cure gout: This homeopathic medicine is prescribed by a professional practitioner if the person is susceptible to cold. Hive like eruptions on your ankles, wrists, and shoulders can be treated through regular consumption of this medication.   
  2. Ledum can relieve you of pain: A painful, swollen area that develops on the small joints such as the joints of your toe fingers can be cured with the use of Ledum. Apart from that swollen small joints can be given momentary respite by falling back upon the cold compression therapy.   3. Lycopodium is effective on sore joints: Chalky deposits of urate can be found in a person's knees. This results in chronic gout. Chronic gout has symptoms like limited urination. The urine may or may not have red sediments. People have also been reported with symptoms like extreme backache. Lycopodium successfully cures cases of unceasing gout.
  4. Try out benzoic acid for a big toe: If your gout is accompanied by stinking yellow urine you probably need Benzoic acid. Gout could be so severe that it might result in a stiff limb. In certain cases it makes a person limp. The thumb of your feet might get swollen making you have a big toe. A big toe usually kills you with tearing pain.
  5. Arnica deals with bruises: Arnica is your go to solution in case of a throbbing, stinging pain in any part of the body. This medication is a cherished answer to aches in every household. When gout is tender and it hinders free movement, this medicine comes to your aid. Hello lybrate user, back pain alone in young age without any associated symptoms like fever, loss of weight or appetite might indicate towards a slip disc or a minor injury to the soft tissues supporting the spine. So, if you do not have any other associated symptoms and have tried adequate amount of rest, then it might be time for you to start with physiotherapy exercises for maintaining the range of movements and also strengthening the back muscles. Consult a physiotherapist for the same. However, if you do have other associated symptoms, then you might need to consult an orthopaedic surgeon for a detailed clinical assessment. Hope this helps.

Warm up your body before running. 4> Massage your shin muscles for 10-20 minutes. You can massage with ice. 5> Strengthen your lower legs. Ask your physiotherapist to teach you "Prevention For Runners Program" 6> Finally, have patience. Sometimes sore shins just happen and unless the pain is severe or sharp, you can train through it. Stay tough! NOTE: If your shin pain is severe, sharp, or lasts longer than a month, you should get it checked. You could have compartment syndrome." mednames="">That is termed as Shin Splints. It usually affect new runners or those who donot run consistently. It is caused by too much stress to the shin muscles. There are several reasons why you may be getting shin splints so one of these treatment options may not work for you. My recommendation is to experiment with all of these suggestions and if you can, implement them all. 1> Don't tie your shoes too tight. Doing so will restrict your shin muscles movement. 2> Avoid "three too's" - too much, too soon, too fast. Sudden increase in volume or intensity can over stress your shins making more susceptible to sore shins. 3> Warm up your body before running. 4> Massage your shin muscles for 10-20 minutes. You can massage with ice. 5> Strengthen your lower legs. Ask your physiotherapist to teach you "Prevention For Runners Program" 6> Finally, have patience.
