You might be having an ankle sprain. Try applying Ice packs. Keep affected limb elevated. Medications like Enzomac will help in swelling. Do not bear weight over affected limb. Persistent pain and swelling can be due to either fracture or ligament sprains. Ideal time for ligament recovery is 4 weeks kindly share x-rays.
