Dear user, I can understand. You must understand the difference between ALCOHOL ADDICTION and abuse. You can definitely quit alcohol in one go. Just stop it and swear not to drink again. Engage yourself in games and other engaging activities during evenings or when you feel the urge. Just a week, your habit should change. There are many other methods, which you can see through internet. The best method is what I suggested. Please try it without fail. Take care.

Minimally-Invasive Foot Surgery - How It Is Helpful?

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Chennai
Minimally-Invasive Foot Surgery - How It Is Helpful?

Over the last few years, foot surgery has come to be recognized as a major orthopedic speciality. Modern orthopedic surgeries tend to use minimally invasive techniques in order to reduce complications posed by open surgery and thus, also reduce or improve post-surgery recovery. A minimally invasive foot surgery is a type of surgery that is performed with a very small incision.

By using such incisions, surgeons insert specially designed instruments to carry out the operation, without causing injury to the adjacent tissue. As a result, it makes the operation more manageable and easier to control. However, these minimally invasive foot surgeries are to be done by trained physicians and surgeons. The foot is first numbed and several 3mm incisions are inserted around the foot to enable access to special instruments. An X-ray machine is also used to monitor the instrument's direction to ensure precise cuts and corrections.

Typically painful bunions, plantar fasciitis, recurring corns, heel spurs, contracted toes and hammer toes are corrected by this type of surgery. With the constant and worthwhile contributions from several physicians, cost effective minimally invasive foot surgery was made possible.

Benefits of Minimally Invasive Foot Surgery

  1. No Trauma to the Soft Tissue: As opposed to traditional open surgery where deep incisions were made, the minimally invasive technique does not cause many injuries to the soft tissue. Since this technique involves relatively smaller incisions, it does not harm the soft tissues inside. As a result, the patient’s recovery time is quick.
  2. Shorter Surgery Time: When compared to open surgeries, the duration of the minimally invasive foot surgery tends to be shorter.
  3. Avoids Usage of AnesthesiaOnly a local anesthesia is required and patients can be awake when the surgery is performed. Whereas in an open surgery a general anesthesia has to be administered and only certain patients will be qualified for that. For patients who are at risk due to medical history, performing a minimally invasive foot surgery should not be a problem, as only a local anesthesia to make the foot asleep has to be given.
  4. Minimal Pain: Patients require less use of pain relievers and studies have shown that patients who have undergone this type of surgery report lesser pain when compared with traditional techniques of foot surgery.
  5. No Scars: Due to the use of smaller incisions, the scars left behind by this procedure are less noticeable. They do not have jagged edges and are smaller than those left on by traditional open surgeries. Also, no stitches are needed.
  6. Day Surgery: You do not need to be hospitalized for a prolonged time as this surgery is typically a day care procedure. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hello, Thanks for your query on Lybrate "As" per your clinical history is concerned you need to increase the dose of medication, so discuss with your treating Doctor about it to adjust now and follow lifestyle modifications like this - 1)Try to eat healthy foods. Choose foods lower in fat and calories and higher in fiber. Focus on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. 2)Get more physical activity. Aim for 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day. Take a brisk daily walk.If you can't fit in a long workout, break it up into smaller sessions spread throughout the day. 3)Try to lose excess weights. If you're overweight, losing even 7 percent of your body weight can reduce the risk of diabetes. To keep your weight in a healthy range, focus on permanent changes to your eating and exercise habits. Hope that helps

Hey. This is absolutely a myth. If you are addicted to masturbation, spending all your time in it, are not keeping awareness of eating or staying active, then obviously you will lose weight. Not because you are masturbating but because you are not eating well, keeping active or going out for some recreational activity. Understand its fine as long as you indulge when needed but unnecessary addiction is not good.

Acute Upper Respiratory Infection: Causes and Symptoms

MBBS, Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (DTCD)

Acute Upper Respiratory Infection: Causes and Symptoms

Upper respiratory infection (URI) is a condition, which involves illness, mainly caused by critical infection in the upper respiratory tract. This region includes the pharynx, larynx, nose and sinus. This infection causes diseases, such as tonsillitis (tonsils get inflamed), pharyngitis (causes sore throat) sinusitis (nasal passage becomes inflamed), laryngitis (voice box in your throat gets inflamed) and common cold.

Causes of upper respiratory infection (URI):

  1. Both virus and bacteria cause upper respiratory infection (URI). The most common form of virus causing this infection is known as 'rhinovirus.'
  2. The immune system of young adults and children are often very vulnerable. Hence, they are more likely to develop upper respiratory tract infection.
  3. URI is also contagious and airborne in nature. So if a person comes in contact with an infected person suffering from URI, he/she is likely to develop this infection.
  4. Not washing hands before meals can also cause upper respiratory infection because the virus can be transferred easily to the mouth and can travel into your system.
  5. If you have any lung problem or heart disease, you are more likely to be susceptible to upper respiratory infection.
  6. Those who already have inflamed tonsils can trigger tonsillitis by drinking any cold or spicy beverage like ice-creams or cold milkshakes.
  7. Exposure to some flu or cold can cause pharyngitis. It can also be caused by second hand smoking.
  8. Birth defects or structural defects in the nasal cavity or nasal polyps can cause sinusitis. Sometimes the inside part of the nose may get swollen due to common cold and block your ducts. This is a common cause for sinusitis.

Symptoms of acute upper respiratory infection:

  1. Congestion in the lungs or nasal area.
  2. Whooping cough
  3. Running nose due to common cold.
  4. Feelings of fatigue and lethargy throughout the day.
  5. Your body will start aching without engaging in any physical exercise.
  6. You can also lose consciousness in severe respiratory tract infections.
  7. Difficulty in breathing.
  8. Oxygen levels in blood drop down drastically.

Sometimes in worse cases, acute upper respiratory tract infection (URI) can also cause respiratory failure, respiratory arrest and congestive heart failure. Therefore, it is necessary to book an appointment with a doctor as soon as you start experiencing the above symptoms. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a pulmonologist.

You need to have a diet and exercise plan based on your bmi, age & weight and sex, presence of any diseases. There are exercises specific for each part of body like hips, thighs or abdomen. There are matters to be discussed privately. Comprehensive exercise& diet plan based on whether vegetarian /non vegetarian can be given if you ask privately. May also need to do some tests. In brief, weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/4 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. For more detailed and personal advice ask me privately www. Lybrate. Com/drsajeev. It is essential and useful to have a doctor answer your doubts online as it time spent in going to a clinic. Majority of diseases can be treated by online by consultation with an experienced doctor and does not need physical examination. You can ask me privately at this site. Regards.
