Hello lybrate user, weight loss is by no means simple you know it! sweat it out is the key! any number of diets and fads won't do any good in the long run! aim to have a healthy lifestyle by daily doing lots of cardio exercises in the form of running, swimming, cycling, treadmill use etc. Basic rule is simple: you will have to keep your metabolism active by having small meals 6 times a day followed by workouts in order to burn out more calories than that you consume. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. There can be many reasons for burning sensations in the feet area, so it can be due to a pathology in spine especially if you have a history of chronic low back ache, it can be secondary to a systemic disease like diabetes, or any patholgy which causes neuropathy, it can occasionally be vascular in nature. So if it is due to nerve involvement, you will require management of underlying cause, tens as a physical therapy modality, and medications for neuropathic symptoms like tab gabapentin or pregabalin in small doses with or without vitamin b 12 supplementation. If it does not improve, we will get your nerve conduction study done to see the cause of these symptoms. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Physical activity is essential for people with osteoarthritis Exercise programs should include both aerobic exercise—like walking, swimming, or biking—and strengthening exercises, such as isometric and isotonic exercises. Please see a Physiotherapist who can help you work out a program suitable for you. You could try a warm bath, or place a heat pack or hot water bottle over the painful area for 15 minutes. Cold numbs the painful area and reduces swelling. Applying cold treatments, such as ice packs, to the painful area for 15 minutes may be especially useful for hot, swollen joints, such as during a'flare' You can repeat heat or cold treatments throughout the day. Make sure the temperature of your skin has returned to normal before re-applying, to prevent any tissue damage.

: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

My left knee is very painful even while standing and walking Doctor has suggested knee joint replacement. For temporary relief he has given an injection of Depo newsroom and says will giver relief for a few weeks or so. I also understand that Dorolane which is lubricant rep l racing the cartilage. My suggestion would be to first try exercises to bring back muscle balance. Do them for a 2-3 weeks and see if there is any improvement. You might not require immediate replacement in that case.

Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

I had fallen and have fixed a rod on my leg as bone had broken below knee. Why does swelling occurs if we keep legs down for longer time? I had this operation 3 years ago, still swelling occurs and still that leg feel heavy.

Hello. Maintain a right standing and sitting posture, keep your back always straight (even while sitting or standing), avoid carrying weight on back. Hold or carry weight divided equally in both the hands or shoulders (to avoid over straining on one particular hand or shoulder). Always select a chair with proper back support and hand-rest. (Excessive sitting or standing is to be avoided as well don’t carry much weight on shoulders). Apart from these, stress could be the major cause of pains! Exercise: Practice Shavasana or Corpse Pose as it looks like a dead body. If practiced correctly and with full efforts, can relax every body part, relaxing not only the body but also the mind: Spread the legs one to two feet apart, the toes are turned outwards, the heels facing each other, a comfortable distance apart. Bring the arms a little away from the body, palms turned upward. Relax the neck and allow it to turn to the side if it is more comfortable. Close the eyes and focus the attention on the body, breathing normally. Begin focusing each body part and relaxing it, then moving on. Keep the mind focused on relaxation, the breath should be normal. Relax the whole body.

Dear user. At your age backpain is no common. It is caused due to sitting for long time and posture of sitting is not proper. Take proper rest. Just take ultrasonic therapy to reduce pain and if possible read my article about causes of backpain.
